ああっ、もうロンドンは冬突入です。
その前に夏のプロヴァンスのお話を終わらせたい!
さて、この夏のプロヴァンスの隠れ副題は「ブロカンテマルシェを巡るプロヴァンスの旅」。
アヴィニョンでも蚤の市に行くつもりでスケジュールを立てました。
が、前回ご紹介した親切なホテルオーナーによると、
「アヴィニョンの蚤の市は全然だめ。それよりヴィルヌーヴのほうがいいよ!」と教えてくれたのでした。
ヴィルヌーヴ・レ・ザヴィニョンは、アヴィニョンから見てローヌ川をはさんだ対岸にある村。
そこでも蚤の市があり、実は私もチェックしていたのですが、
同じ土曜日だったのでアヴィニョンがいまいちだったら移動しようかな、と思っていたのです。
というわけで、ここは親切なアドバイスにしたがって、アヴィニョンの蚤の市はチェックせずに、
早朝からヴィルヌーヴ・レ・ザヴィニョンへ直行しました。

Before that, I want to finish my travel journal of Provence!
You know, the secret subtitle of this travel journal is "Brocante tour in Provence".
I scheduled to go to a brocante market in Avignon too.
However, the hotel owner whom I wrote about last time told me that the brocante in Avignon was not nice and the one in Villeneuve-les-Avignon was much better.
Villeneuve-les-Avignon is a village at the opposite side of Avignon across the Rhone River.
I had already checked about the brocante there, but it was on the same day as the one in Avignon.
I was thinking to go there if the brocante in Avignon was not nice.
So I decided to follow his advice.
We went to Villeneuve-les-Avignon from early morning without going to the brocante in Avignon.
先にアルルの蚤の市を紹介していますが、
日程的にはこの蚤の市がこの旅で一番最初の大きな蚤の市でした。
なので私の心は期待に膨らんでいたのでしたが…。
とにかくフランスのブロカンテが高くて高くて。
もちろんパリに比べたら安いし、旅の終盤、すべての蚤の市を振り返ってみると一番お買い得だったかもしれません。
でも最初の蚤の市だっただけに私の財布の紐は固く…。
たくさん買い付ける予定だっただけに、拍子抜けの結果となってしまいました。
特に私がメインとするヴィンテージジュエリーはほとんどなくて。
このマーケットだけでなく、フランスではほとんど見かけないんですが。
たまにジュエリーを専門に持ってる人がいてもお高いアンティークで、
The Mad Vintageのコンセプトである 「ロンドンガールが蚤の市で見つけるお手軽ヴィンテージ」とはかけ離れたお値段なのです…。
先日ロンドンでであった、毎週フランスに買付に行ってるディーラーさんによると、
やはり蚤の市ではなく、サプライヤーさんから直接買っているそう。
まだまだフランス蚤の市、研究が必要です!
Although I have already written about the brocante market in Arles,
this was my first big brocante market in this journey.
So I was really looking forward to it.... however....
It was so expensive.
French brocante is so expensive!
Of course, it's cheaper than Paris.
I guess it was the cheapest among the markets I visited in this trip.
But it was my first market in the trip, so my purse strings were tightened.... the result was no good.
Specially I couldn't find any vintage jewellery, which is my speciality.
I found out that it's very hard to find vintage jewellery in France.
Sometimes I saw people who mainly have jewellery, but those were usually genuine antique, super expensive.
That's not The Mad Vintage's jewellery which is "jewellery which London girls found in flea market with reasonable price".
I met a dealer who goes to France every week to buy, and she told me that she buys vintage jewellery from certain suppliers, not from brocante marche.
I need more research about brocante in France!
