New shops @ Lewes!!

We went to Lewes last Saturday, it had been a while.
The purpose was my favourite vintage fair in Lewes town hall, but there are lots of vintage markets and cute shops there.
(By the way, I have got cute new stock and they are coming to Pop Up Vintage Fair @ Old Spitalfields this Saturday (15th Nov).
Please come down to East End!)
I always find new spots in Lewes, and that's what I look forward.
I did find cute new shops this time.
(At the same time, I found a few shops which I found last time were closed down...

先週の土曜日は久しぶりにルイスへ行ってきました。
お気に入りのヴィンテージフェアが目的でしたが、ルイスには他にもたくさんの屋内ヴィンテージマーケットや、かわいいお店がたくさん。
(ちなみに、今回もたくさんの収穫がありました!　
それは今週土曜のオールド・スピタルフィールズでのポップアップヴィンテージフェアにお目見えするので、ぜひ来てくださいね!）
行くといつも、新しいスポットが出来ているので、それもまた楽しみ。
今回もかわいいお店が新しくできていました!
(それと同時に、前回発見したかわいいお店もいくつか閉店…。

今回はそんなルイスのニュースポットをご紹介。

POPSICLE

A cute tiny shop opened in The Needlemakers!
The cosy shop was full of pop colours and really cheerful.
Especially, I loved those knit caps (in the photo at the bottom).
They were made by creators from Brighton, Kubixl.
It's really colourful design and also you can change pompoms, amazing!!
I couldn't help buying this cap in order to get over the cold and grey British winter!
I didn't buy extra pompom, but apparently they also come to Old Spitalfields this Saturday, I might check it out!
I also loved the tussel necklace (in the 2nd photo).
However, I am still looking for a job, no more shopping!!
I might get it when I find a job. :)


ニードルメーカーのビルの中にキッチュなお店が登場。
小さな店内はきらきらしたポップな色があふれていて、見回すだけでもとても楽しい。
今回特に目を惹いたのは、ちょうど入荷したてのカラフルニットキャップ。(写真一番下）
ブライトンの若手クリエイターKubixlが作っているこのキャップ、なんとポンポンが取り外しできて交換できるという優れもの。
気分でポンポンのコーディネートを変えることができるのだ!
あまりにかわいかったので、憂鬱でグレーなイギリスの冬を乗り越えるために、このカラフル帽子を購入。
替えのポンポンは買わなかったけれど、 見てみたら今月１５日のOld Spitalfieldsに来るらしいので、（！）のぞいてみようかな！
他にも、写真２枚目にあるタッセルネックレスに釘付け。
しかしそこはまだ無職の身、がんばって自分をおさえた！
仕事が見つかったら迎えにいこうかしら。：）

It was a really beautiful shop of new things and old things.
The interior was perfectly mixed with new things and vintages.
I wanted every single thing in the shop!


古いものと新しいものがうまく調和をなしてる雑貨屋さん。
どれもぴったりインテリアにはまっていて、お店にあるものすべて欲しくなってしまう。

Flint Owl Bakery

This bakery is particular about making organic bread with no chemical.
A cosy cafe space is always full of people.
They also have salad and soup for light meal, we had a quiche and today's soup.
It was delicious, but I am very very interested in their cakes, so I must go back there for tea!!!


無添加・オーガニックにこだわったパン屋さん。
なのでお値段はちょっと高めだけれど、こだわりとおいしさで納得。
小さなカフェスペースもいつも満席です。
ランチ用にスープやサラダも置いてあり、私たちは本日のスープとキッシュをチョイス。
おいしかったけれど、ケーキがものすごくものすごく気になったので、今度はぜひともお茶しに戻ってきたい！

New shops @ Lewes!!

We went to Lewes last Saturday, it had been a while.
The purpose was my favourite vintage fair in Lewes town hall, but there are lots of vintage markets and cute shops there.

先週の土曜日は久しぶりにルイスへ行ってきました。

Eminonu

Istanbul ~the bridge between East and West ~ ヒガシとニシをつなぐ街、イスタンブール   Oct 2014 Vol.6

Today, I am writing about Emimonu area in Istanbul!!

今回は、旧市街と新市街を結ぶ、ガラタ橋近くの旧市街側エリアの見所をご紹介。

Eminonu is the area near Galata Bridge which links New Town and Old Town.
There are lots of piers for ferries, and also Sirkeci station which is the end of the train line of Europe side.
It is always busy area with crowds.


旧市街と新市街を結ぶガラタ橋近くのエリア、エミノニュは、各方面へのワプル(連絡船）が発着し、
ヨーロッパ側の国鉄終点、スィルケジ駅もあり、とてもにぎやかなエリア。
常に人がいっぱい。

Between Egyptian Bazaar (Back of Yeni Camii) and Grand Bazaar, there is shopping area.
Unfortunately, we couldn't go to Egyptian Bazaar and Grand Bazaar since it was Eid and they were closed for 4 days.
However, there were lots of shops were opened in that area, so we could feel the atmosphere of Turkish Bazaar.
I guess there were more local people in this area than Grand Bazaar.
But, of course you can find typical souvenirs.


イェニ・ジャーミィの裏にあるエジプシャンバザール周辺からグランドバザールにかけては、
商店がずらりと並んだショッピングエリア。
残念ながら、Eidのためにグランドバザールにもエジプシャンバザールにも行くことができなかったけれど、
この辺りの商店はオープンしているところも多かったので、ちょっとバザールの雰囲気が楽しめた。
グランドバザールの様子はわからないけれど、たぶん、こちらのほうがもっと庶民向けで、ローカルらしき人がたくさん。
でもお土産も売ってる。

Yeni Camii　（New Mosque)  　　イェニ・ジャーミィ

It's a "new (Yeni)" mosque, built in the 17th century.
Personally, it was one of my favourite.
It was huge, and I thought it was very friendly to everyone, specially for tourists.
I thought it was more blue than Blue Mosque.


１７世紀に完成した、「新しい（Yeni)」モスク。
個人的には一番好きだったモスク。
大きくて開放的、それでいて旅行者にもオープンな印象があったのも好きな理由の一つ。
より青っぽいので、こちらのほうが「ブルーモスク」という名にふさわしいんじゃないかと思ってしまう。

Rustem Pasa Camii　　　リュステム・パシャ・ジャーミィ

It was a tiny mosque in the shopping area near Egyptian Bazaar.
However, the tiles in that mosque was amazing and beautiful, it was one of my favourite too.
There were not so many people visited, so I could take time to see.


こちらはエジプシャンバザールから続く商店街の中にあるこじんまりとした小さなモスク。
だけれど中のタイル装飾は圧巻で、これも私のお気に入りのモスクの一つ。
訪れる人も少ないので、(観光客、お祈りの人ともに）、ゆっくり時間を過ごせた。

Today, I am writing about Emimonu area in Istanbul!!

今回は、旧市街と新市街を結ぶ、ガラタ橋近くの旧市街側エリアの見所をご紹介。

Eminonu is the area near Galata Bridge which links New Town and Old Town.

Between Egyptian Bazaar (Back of Yeni Camii) and Grand Bazaar, there is shopping area.

However, there were lots of shops were opened in that area, so we could feel the atmosphere of Turkish Bazaar.
I guess there were more local people in this area than Grand Bazaar.
But, of course you can find typical souvenirs.

Bakery* Fabrique

The bakery is just back of Geffrye Museum and off from the main street, it's very quiet.
When I visited there, it was so calm and peaceful.


 高架下ともいえども、オーバーグラウンドはそんなに本数がないし、
ジェフリーミュージアムの真裏でメインストリートから離れているこの場所はとっても静か。
私が訪れたこの時間も、とってものほほんとしてゆったり時間が流れていました。

This bakery came from Sweden, of course their popular menu is Cinnamon bun.
They use natural and fresh ingredients and bake with a stone oven.
They have croissants, pain au chocolat, and campagne bread too.
My favourites are cinnamon bun and Apricot and Chocolate cookie.
Their cookie is light but moist, it's so delicious.
I always buy those two when I am nearby.
You must try them!


こちらはスウェーデンから来たベーカリーで、もちろん人気はシナモンバン。
ナチュラルでフレッシュな素材にこだわり、お店にある石釜で焼かれています。
シナモンバン以外にも、カルダモンバンや、定番のクロワッサン、パンオショコラなども。
カンパーニュなどの田舎パンもあります。
私のお気に入りはシナモンバンと、一番下の写真に写っているアプリコットとチョコレートのクッキー。
このクッキー、さくさくなのにしっとりでおいしいんです。
この二つは近くに行ったら必ず買ってしまいます。
皆様もぜひお試しあれ。

If you didn't go to East End for a while,  you always find something new there when you go there next time.
This bakery which is just next to Hoxton overground station is one of new things for me.


久々にイーストエンドに行くと、何かしら新しい発見があるのですが、このベーカリーもその一つ。
Hoxtonのオーバーグラウンドの駅の高架下にできたベーカリー。

Sultanahmet 3 ~ where to eat!

I am writing where to eat in Sultanahmet area!

今回はスルタンアフメットの食べ処をご紹介。

Baydagi Restaurant

Sultanahmet is very touristic area, therefore there were so many hotels and restaurants.
I thought they were too touristic...
But this diner is for local people and they have good food, and cheap!!


私たちが旅の拠点にしたスルタンアフメットは旅行者エリアで、ホテルもレストランもたくさんあったのですが、
レストランはどこも旅行者向けな気が…
そんな中で、この食堂はローカル向けでとってもおいしい上に安い!!

We have no idea what to eat, so I asked the staff "very Turkish food".
This is the starter from buffet, the selection of cold starter.
Of course you can choose whatever you want from buffet, but this is the staff's recommendation.


初日は何を頼んでいいかわからなかったので、親切な店員さんに「これぞトルコ」なメニューを選んでもらいました。
これはビュッフェから、トルコなお惣菜の盛り合わせ。
もちろん自分で好きなのを選べますが、これは店員さんおすすめの品々。

 For the main, we chose Kebab.
This is the mix Kebab selection, you can taste all kinds of meat and it was good volume.

メインはやっぱりケバブ。
このケバブの盛り合わせはチキンやラムなど、いろんな種類のお肉が試せてお得。

 We loved this Pide.  (Thin bread with cheese or mince meat)
We loved it so much that we ordered it again next day. :)
They gave us bread as well, and those bread were always fresh and sometimes just came out from the oven!
It was so delicious and cheap, staffs are very friendly.
We loved this restaurant so much that we went there for 3 days while we were staying in Istanbul!
We met a couple from NY and they also said, "we loved here so much that we come here everyday!"
I will show you more photos of their food later..

めちゃくちゃ気に入って、次の日も単品でオーダー。
このほかにもパンがサービスでついてくるのですが、いつも焼き立てでフレッシュ!
本当においしくて、しかも安いし、スタッフの人もとてもフレンドリーで、結局滞在中３日も通ってしまいました!!
ここで出会ったニューヨークからのカップルも、
「私たちもここが気に入って、滞在中毎日来てるのよ～。」 といってました。：）
このほかの食べ物の写真はいずれまた、トルコのフード特集で。

 

The Kybele Cafe

We love Beydagi Restaurant, but we wanted some change so we came to this restaurant.
I love the colourful wall outside and so many lovely lamps on the ceiling.
Also, of course, antiques!!
It's a cafe & restaurant in a hotel, and you can see lots of lamps in the hotel rooms too.
(Of course, you can go to the restaurant even though you don't stay there.)
I had a fish, it was very fleshy and good.
They have cafe area as well.
If you want to feel "Turkish mood", why not?


上のBeydagi Restaurantはよかったんだけれど、さすがに４日も同じ店に行くのもなんだし、というわけで選んだお店がこちら。
カラフルな壁、中にびっしりつるされたトルコランプがトルコっぽいし、アンティークなインテリアも気になって。
ホテルに併設されているカフェ＆レストランで、ホテルの部屋にもランプがいっぱいみたい。
(もちろん、ホテルに泊まってなくてもカフェに行くことは可能です。）
メインに頂いたお魚のグリルは肉厚でよかった。
トルコっぽい雰囲気なお見せに行きたい方におすすめ。

I am writing where to eat in Sultanahmet area!

今回はスルタンアフメットの食べ処をご紹介。

Baydagi Restaurant

Sultanahmet is very touristic area, therefore there were so many hotels and restaurants.
I thought they were too touristic...
But this diner is for local people and they have good food, and cheap!!


私たちが旅の拠点にしたスルタンアフメットは旅行者エリアで、ホテルもレストランもたくさんあったのですが、

Cafe* Tsubame ~つばめ @ Kyoto

 Today, I am writing about a small cafe called "Tsubame" ( Tsubame means swallow in Japanese),
just around the corner from the book shop "Keibun-sha" which wrote before.
(Photos are from 2011)

前回紹介した恵文社さんから角を曲がってすぐのところにある、小さなカフェ、「つばめ」をご紹介。

It's small, but cosy and comfortable cafe.
You feel like that you are in your good friend house.
....However, if you go there right in the lunch time, it's very, very busy.


小さいけれど、窮屈感のない、居心地のいいカフェ。
まるで気のおける友人の家にいるような感じ。
…といっても、これはお昼の時間をはずしたからであって、お昼時はとっても込んでる人気カフェです。

This is "Coffee and set meal" cafe.
Their lunch set menu is so homey that you feel like that you are eating at home.
(I mean, you feel like that you are in Japanese people's home)
And perfect balanced menu.  (I think.)
I haven't tried their coffee yet.  Next time.


「コーヒーと定食」とうたっているだけあって、お昼のランチはまるでおうちでご飯を食べているようなメニュー。
栄養のバランスが取れている(様な気がする）のもうれしい。
コーヒーは残念ながらトライせずなので次回はぜひ。

I regretted I didn't buy them....
I will definitely buy them when I go back to Japan next time if they still have.


お店の片隅にはツバメグッズ。
今見たら猛烈に欲しくなってきました。
まだあるのかしら。あったら今度の帰国時に絶対欲しい。

 Today, I am writing about a small cafe called "Tsubame" ( Tsubame means swallow in Japanese),
just around the corner from the book shop "Keibun-sha" which wrote before.

前回紹介した恵文社さんから角を曲がってすぐのところにある、小さなカフェ、「つばめ」をご紹介。
