先々週から2週連続でオックスフォードへ行ってきました!
We went to Oxford twice in last 2 weeks!
1週目はフランスから来た友人家族を案内。
小さなお子様連れだったため、有名なクライストチャーチさえも見ずのショートトリップでしたが、
気に入ってもらえたようです。
私たちも何回来ても大好きな町。
というわけで再び翌週戻ってきました。
前回ちょっと消化不良だったのもありますが、メインの目的は1週目に来たときになくしたイヤリングを探すため。
落とした通りはピンポイントでわかっていたので。
でも…当然、見つけることはできませんでした。そりゃそーだ…
とはいっても、イヤリングのためだけに来たのではありません。
町を楽しむことも一つだけれど、もう一つ、ヴィンテージフェアがあったのでした！
In the first week, we went there with our friends from France.
I think they liked it although they didn't have enough time to see everything (they even couldn't see the famous Christ Church).
Oxford is my favourite town. Never get bored.
So I went back there again!
I wanted to see the town more, but my main purpose was to find my earring which I lost the weekend before last.
I know the exact street where I lost it.
Well, after all..... I couldn't find it. Of course....
But, we didn't go back only for my earring.
I wanted to enjoy the town and also, more importantly, there was a vintage fair.
フェアの会場はオックスフォードのタウンホール。
こういうときでないと入れないので、ラッキー。
美しいホールにしばしうっとり。
フェアも楽しく、いいアイテム見つけました!
The fair was held in the town hall.
It was lucky. We wouldn't see the inside of the hall unless there is a fair of wedding.
The hall was so beautiful!
The fair was nice as well, I found some vintage finds!
その後は川べりをお散歩。
オックスフォードに来たら、これははずせません。
のどかな小川沿いをゆっくり歩いたりピクニックするのがお気に入り。
これのために来るようなもんです。
相方と二人で、老後はここで暮らしたいな～、毎日この川べりをお散歩したいな～と妄想。
After the fair, we went for a walk near the river.
This is what I really love in Oxford.
Walking or having a picnic by River Cherwell.
We talked about when we are retired. Living in Oxford and walking by River Cherwell everyday....
That's one of our dream.
とってもステキなガールズグループに出会いました。
お花の冠つけてボートの上でチーズパーティー。
ステキだ～。
I saw a lovely girls' group.
They were having a cheese party with flower wreaths!
So cute！
1週目に来たときは、友人家族とともにボートものりました。
ここのバイトの学生さんたちの鮮やかな舵さばき、いつ見てもほれます。
When we came with our friends, we rode on a boat too.
The staff were so good at punting. So cool.
川からでないと見られない眺めや、近くまで来るアヒルやカモたち、近い水面、きらきらした木漏れ日…
オックスフォードに来たらぜひのっていただきたい。
There is a view you can only see from the river. Ducks and goose are getting so close to you, shining river surface with the light through trees...
I really recommend to do it when you come to Oxford.
友人家族が唯一入った観光名所は聖メアリー教会だったのですが、
この日はオペラのリハーサルをやっていました。
教会の中をじっくり見ることは出来なかったけれど、かわりに素敵な音楽に浸れました！
When we came with our friends, we saw a opera rehearsal in St. Mary Church.
We couldn't really see the inside of the church, but the music was very beautiful.
あとは町をぶらぶら。
1週目に来たときは車できたので、そのときにチラッとまだ行ってないところを発見しました。
まだまだ開拓したいところがたくさん。
今回は前回からやりたかった、「もっとたくさんのカレッジを見る」目標をちょっと達成。
そのあとに「博士と彼女のセオリー」を見たのでちょっと学生気分に。
(あれはケンブリッジだけど。）
Walking around the town is always fun too.
We found some parts we had never been.
We also managed to see some college, which we wanted to do.
オックスフォードに来たらはずせないお店。
Objects of Use(写真右）は日本でも有名な雑貨店、Labour & Waitにとてもよく似たお店だけれど、
品揃えがL&Wより多いので、行くと必ず見てしまう。
G&D(写真左）のアイスクリームは本当においしいし、フレーバーもオリジナルの味があって楽しい。
ちなみにこれはカシスとはちみつの「ブラック・ビューティー」。
以前Alice's Dayに来たときのオリジナルのアイスがすごくおいしかったのでまた食べたかったけれど、
あれは本当にあのときだけみたい!
ちなみに今年は出版して150年なのでまたいろいろイベントがありそうだけれど、
残念ながら今年のAlice's Dayには来られない。
でもオックスフォードはまた来たいなあ。
Those 2 shops are my favourite, I always visit when we come to Oxford.
Objects of Use (right) is a lovely shop for house keeping items.
It's quite similar to the famous shop Labour and Wait, but I think OoU has more range of items.
So I always check it out.
G&D (left) is definitely the best ice cream shop in Oxford.
Their flavor is very good and so original.
I had "Black Beauty" this time (Black currant with honey)
I coudln't forget the ice cream I had in Alice's day.
But unfortunately, that ice cream was really only for that day.
This year is also 150th anniversary of publishing Alice in Wonderland.
There might be some events for that, but unfortunately I can't come for Alice's day this year.
However, I would love to go back to Oxford soon!
