Summer weekend

先週末のロンドンは久々に半袖で外に出られる夏日でした!!
(今日はまた普段どおりニットカーディガン着てる私ですが!）
夏日が貴重なロンドン、皆ここぞとばかりに出かけます。
もちろん私たちも、二日ともお出かけ!

Last weekend was so beautiful summer day!!  (already cold today though!)
We couldn't miss that summer days, of course we went out!

気持ちのいい朝は、相方が作ってくれたホットケーキで始まり。
パンケーキ大好きな相方は、一度作り方を教えて以来、ホットケーキにはまってしまって、自分で作ってくれます。
カフェに出てくるようなふわふわで分厚いホットケーキの写真しか見てないので、
どうしたらあんなに膨らむのか目下研究中。

Started from the lovely pancake breakfast by Seb....
He loved this Japanese pancake recipe, he's researching how to make it thicker....

土曜日は久々に新しいカフェの開拓に。
Clapham Commonはカフェもあるし、マーケットもあるし、おいしいアイスクリーム屋さんはあるし、
 ピクニックに最適の公園もあるしで、お気に入りです。

On Saturday, we went to find a new cafe.
We love Clapham Common, there is cafes, a market, a gelateria, and a lovely park for picnic.



日曜日は久々にチズィックのカーブートセールへ行って来ました。
ここはカーブート自体もいいんだけれど、隣接するチズィックハウス・ガーデンがとてもステキなので、カーブートのあとのピクニックにぴったりなのです。

On Sunday, we went to Chiswick Car boot sale.  It's been a while that I go there.
I love the car boot sale, but also Chiswick House Garden is just perfect for picnic.

川沿いでピクニック。
とてもイングリッシュなガーデンですが、ランチはざるそば。笑
暑い日にはそばがうまい。
午後からちょっと曇ってきたけれど、 夏日になったらアイスクリーム!
ここの併設のカフェではコーニッシュアイスクリームを売っていました。
カラメル味がおいしかった～!

We had a picnic by the river.
We had Japanese buckwheat noodle for lunch.  It's perfect for a hot day.
And also we had ice cream.
A cafe in the park had Cornish Ice Cream.
Caramel flavour was so delicious.

家に帰る頃にまた晴れてきたので、ちょっとガーデニングをしてから、外でティータイム。
太陽の光を逃しません!!

When we got home, we did a little bit gardening and had a tea outside.
It was really lovely weekend!

さて、カーブーツの戦利品。
ステキなカーディガンを見つけました!
買ったときは暑かったけれど、今日はもう早速着れそうな天気。笑
自分用にもMad Vintage用にもちょこちょこ買えました！
家から近いのでまたこなくちゃ!

先週末のロンドンは久々に半袖で外に出られる夏日でした!!
(今日はまた普段どおりニットカーディガン着てる私ですが!）
夏日が貴重なロンドン、皆ここぞとばかりに出かけます。
もちろん私たちも、二日ともお出かけ!

Last weekend was so beautiful summer day!!  (already cold today though!)
We couldn't miss that summer days, of course we went out!

気持ちのいい朝は、相方が作ってくれたホットケーキで始まり。
パンケーキ大好きな相方は、一度作り方を教えて以来、ホットケーキにはまってしまって、自分で作ってくれます。
カフェに出てくるようなふわふわで分厚いホットケーキの写真しか見てないので、
どうしたらあんなに膨らむのか目下研究中。

日曜日は久々にチズィックのカーブートセールへ行って来ました。

Markets in Arles ~ アルルのマルシェ・蚤の市

Lovely Summer Vacance in Provence ~ 南仏プロヴァンスでの夏休み　Jul 2015  vol.4

アルルで楽しみにしていたものが、もちろんブロカンテマルシェ。
アルルでは毎月第一水曜日に開かれるのですが、
前述の通り、 中国首脳来訪のせいで延期に!!!
このためにこの日にアルルに来ていたというのに…!!
そんなわけで、一度はあきらめたアルルのマーケットですが、
やっぱりあきらめきれなかったので、リュベロンからわざわざ一時間かけてやってきました!

What I was looking forward to in Arles was an antique market.
It's every first Wednesday of month.
However, as I mentioned before, it was postponed because of the visiting of Chinese prime minister.
I couldn't believe it, I was in Arles that day for the market!
I was about to give up, but couldn't, so we went to Arles again to go to the market from Luberon.

実は、今回の旅のサブタイトルは、「ブロカンテマルシェを巡るプロヴァンスの旅」だったのですが、
見事に玉砕…。
フランスのヴィンテージってば、高い!　
はたまた、私のリサーチ不足だったのか、 たくさん買付をして帰るはずだった私の目論見は見事に外れました。
というのも、私がいつも買い付けに行くイギリスの大きなマーケットでは、フランスのヴィンテージがけっこうお手軽に手に入るのです。
(イギリスでもフレンチヴィンテージがはやってるので。）
もちろんイギリスのものと比べたら相応の値段はしますが、これがパリより安かったものだから、
プロヴァンスのような田舎に行けば、もっと安く手に入るんじゃない!?
と、思っていたのですが…、残念ながら、その読みは外れてしまいました。

Actually, this journey's subtitle was supposed to be "Little villages and Brocante marches in Provence".
However, I couldn't get many items at all.....  French vintage is so expensive!!
Maybe I didn't research enough, anyway, my plan -getting a lot of French vintage for The Mad Vintage- was failed!
Because I see some french vintage with reasonable price in markets in UK, I thought that I might be able to get some cheaper if I go to countryside like Provence.
.....Well, it was wrong!

そんな、買付としては残念な旅でしたが、その中でもアルルのマーケットはいけてたほう。

Anyway, my buying journey was no good, but this Arles market was rather good.

こういうジャンクがあると、掘り出し物があるかも!と目が輝く。

Lovely junks.  Bargain hunting!!

というわけで、このマーケットではちょこちょこ買うことができました。

I could buy some items here!

フランスに来るとどうしてもパニエ(バスケット）に目が行ってしまう。
大きめなものは特に。
(別に置くとこも必要性もないんだけれど。）

Love French baskets.
I don't need them and I don't have places to put, but can't help looking at them.

ブロカンテは月一ですが、普通のマーケットは毎週やってます。

Brocante market is once a month, but general market is on every week.

南仏に来ると、(南でなくてもフランスに来ると、）マルシェに行かずに入られなくなる!
特に、南仏のたっぷりに太陽の光を浴びた野菜や果物。
今度来るときは、拠点を決めてアパルトマンを借りて、マルシェで材料を買って料理したいなあ。
今回の旅はあまりに暑かったので、カフェでケーキは一度も食べず、（！）もっぱらおやつはみずみずしいフルーツ。

When I come to South France, (not only South though,) I can't miss markets!
Specially, vegetables and fruits which were grown in plenty sunshine in Provence!!
I will rent a flat next time and would love to cook them!
Usually I like to go to cafe and have a cake for tea, but I didn't do it at all this time.
Instead, I had fruits for my snack because it was SO hot there.

マーケットってやっぱり楽しい!

アルルで楽しみにしていたものが、もちろんブロカンテマルシェ。
アルルでは毎月第一水曜日に開かれるのですが、
前述の通り、 中国首脳来訪のせいで延期に!!!
このためにこの日にアルルに来ていたというのに…!!
そんなわけで、一度はあきらめたアルルのマーケットですが、
やっぱりあきらめきれなかったので、リュベロンからわざわざ一時間かけてやってきました!

今日はアルルの観光名所巡り。

Today, I'll show you famous sightseeing spots of Arles.

アルルといえば、ローマ遺跡。
壮大なローマの闘技場はその代表格。
もちろん、今も現役です。

Speaking of monuments in Arles, you can't forget Roman remains.
One of the most popular monument is The Arena.
It's so magnificent and still in use too.

塔のてっぺんからはローヌ川を望むアルルの町の景色を見ることができます。

From the top of the tower, you can see the town of Arles and the river Rhone.

闘技場の中を眺めていると、闘技場を斜めに失踪する影が。
何かと思ったらにゃんこでした。
闘技場を我が物顔で歩くにゃんこ。
築約２０００年のおうちを自由気ままに歩いています。
ちなみに、この劇場はアルルの衣装祭で開放されるので、衣装祭に来る人はわざわざお金を払わなくてもいいかも。

 I saw a shadow running across the arena super fast.
It was a kitty!
He seemed to enjoy his 2000 years old house.
By the way, if you go to Arles in the costume festival time, the arena will be opened for everyone, so you don't need to pay to get in.

もう一つ、代表的なローマ遺跡が、この古代劇場。
築２０００年たった今も、現役です。

Another famous Roman remain is this ancient theatre.
This is also still in use after it was built 2000 years ago.

朝一で、誰もいなかったのをいいことに、この舞台で踊っちゃった。笑

 We went to the theatre first in the morning.
There was no one, so I danced on the stage lol

無造作に転がっている２０００年前の遺跡。
２０００年前にどうやってこの巨大な柱の上に石を乗っけたり出来たのかしら?
本当に不思議です。
ちなみに古代劇場は柵でかこまれていて、そこまで興味ない人でも柵の外から十分に舞台を見ることができます。
私たちはPass Monumentsという、４つのモニュメントとミュージアムを一つ見れる１１ユーロのチケットを購入。
私たちはミュージアムは見なかったけれど、闘技場、劇場、サン・トロフィーム教会の回廊、地下回廊を見ました。

The remains from 2000 years ago lied randomly.
How on earth did they put those heavy stones on the top of high columns?
Romans were really amazing.....
By the way, this theatre is surrounded by fence, you can see the theatre enough from the outside of the fence if you are not so interested.
We bought tickets called Pass Monuments which you can see 4 monuments and 1 museum.  It was 11 euro.
We didn't see museums, but saw the arena, the theatre, the crypt and St Tropheme church.

教会を出たところには静かな回廊も。
こちらは別料金。
白い石に施された緻密な彫刻がステキです。

They have a famous cloister.  (You need to pay.)
Most of the columns have delicate carvings.

アルルといえばゴッホ、ということで、ゴッホゆかりの地も。
こちらは「夜のカフェテラス」のモデルになったところ。
黄色い壁がステキです。
このカフェだけでなく、この広場はレストランやカフェに囲まれて、いつも大勢の観光客でにぎわっています。

This is the place of  Therrase du Cafe le Soir.
Lovely yellow cafe.
Not only this cafe, the square is surrounded by cafes and restaurants and always busy with tourists.

広場にはもちろん、ゴッホ。

You can see Van Gogh in the square.

こんな光景をゴッホも見てたんでしょうか。
夜まで待ちたかったけれど、これが限界でした。

I wondered Van Gogh might have seen this view....
I wanted to wait until night, but couldn't......


Place du Forum　フォーラム広場

もう一つ、旧市街にあるところでは、このエスパス・ヴァン・ゴッホ。
ゴッホが耳を切り落としたあとに入院していた病院です。
今は図書館になっています。
この季節は花が咲き乱れていてきれい。

Another Van Gogh place is L'espace Van Gogh.
It used to be a hospital where Van Gogh stayed after he hurt his ears.
It's a library now.
It has a beautiful garden with colourful flowers!

ゴッホは入院中にこの中庭を描いています。「アルル病院の中庭」。

Van Gogh painted this garden.  "Garden of the Hospital in Arles"

ゴッホも眺めた光景を見ながら、ランチ!

We had a lunch with the view which Van Gogh also might have seen!

今日はアルルの観光名所巡り。

Today, I'll show you famous sightseeing spots of Arles.

Finally Summer in London!

やっと、やっと、やっと、ロンドンにも夏が来ました!!
日曜日は久しぶりに袖なしの服で外へ出かけられるほどに。
ここぞとばかりにピクニックへ!
行き先はご近所のリッチモンドパーク。

Finally, at last, summer has come in London!
Warm enough to go out without my cardigan!
We went to Richmond Park for picnic.

リッチモンドパークはものすごく広いんだけれど、
どうしてもやっぱり最寄のバス停辺りをうろうろするだけ…。
他の行ったことないエリアにも行ってみたいんだけれど、車が要るなあ。
でもこのペンブローク・ロッジ、前回来たときとはまったく違って、お藩が咲き乱れてすごくきれいでした。

Richmond Park is so huge, I can't walk around .....
I want to go where I have never been, but I think we need a car....
However, this Pembroke Lodge was so different compared with when I came last time.  So many flowers were bloomed!!

ピクニックのあとは、これまた近くにあるピーターシャムナーサリーへ。
最近、やっとガーデニングを初めて、お花を植え始めています。
今回はカモミールを探しに来たのですが、なくて残念。

After picnic, we went to Petersham Nurseries.
Recently, we finally started gardening.  We are planting some flowers.
This time, we were looking for camomile, but they didn't have it.

こういうまるまるっとしたイングリッシュローズを植えるのが夢ですが、まだまだ吟味中。
ガーデニングって、ブーケ作るのも同じで、
いろいろバランスやら位置やら考えてたら、どうしたらいいかわからなくなってくる。
好きな花だけ買えば簡単だけどなあ…。

I love this type of roses.
I would love to have one of them in our garden, but I am still researching about it.
Gardening, same as making bouquets, is very difficult to think about where and what we plant....
It would be easy if I can just buy my favourite flowers....

リッチモンドパークだけでなく、川沿いも人気のピクニックスポット。

Thames River is also popular picnic spot.

リッチモンドでピクニックしたら、近くのイタリアンジェラートショップでアイスクリームタイム。
人気のこのお店は、ちょっと暖かくなったら長蛇の列。
今回はオレンジ・ヨーグルトとロシェ(チョコとナッツのお菓子）。
チョコとオレンジは相性がよろしい。

When you have a picnic in Richmond, don't forget the gelato at Italian gelato shop.
This shop has a always long queue when it became warm.
We took Mandarin Yogurt and Rocher.
Chocolate and Orange is perfect combination.

翌日の今日は早速気温が下がってますが…。
８月にあと最低でも一週間くらいはこういうお天気であってほしいなあ!

Well, it became already colder today....
I hope we still have at least a week of summer days in August!!

Finally Summer in London!

やっと、やっと、やっと、ロンドンにも夏が来ました!!
日曜日は久しぶりに袖なしの服で外へ出かけられるほどに。
ここぞとばかりにピクニックへ!
行き先はご近所のリッチモンドパーク。

Finally, at last, summer has come in London!
Warm enough to go out without my cardigan!
We went to Richmond Park for picnic.

リッチモンドパークはものすごく広いんだけれど、
どうしてもやっぱり最寄のバス停辺りをうろうろするだけ…。
他の行ったことないエリアにも行ってみたいんだけれど、車が要るなあ。
でもこのペンブローク・ロッジ、前回来たときとはまったく違って、お藩が咲き乱れてすごくきれいでした。

Richmond Park is so huge, I can't walk around .....
I want to go where I have never been, but I think we need a car....
However, this Pembroke Lodge was so different compared with when I came last time.  So many flowers were bloomed!!

ピクニックのあとは、これまた近くにあるピーターシャムナーサリーへ。
最近、やっとガーデニングを初めて、お花を植え始めています。
今回はカモミールを探しに来たのですが、なくて残念。

After picnic, we went to Petersham Nurseries.
Recently, we finally started gardening.  We are planting some flowers.
This time, we were looking for camomile, but they didn't have it.

こういうまるまるっとしたイングリッシュローズを植えるのが夢ですが、まだまだ吟味中。
ガーデニングって、ブーケ作るのも同じで、
いろいろバランスやら位置やら考えてたら、どうしたらいいかわからなくなってくる。
好きな花だけ買えば簡単だけどなあ…。

I love this type of roses.
I would love to have one of them in our garden, but I am still researching about it.
Gardening, same as making bouquets, is very difficult to think about where and what we plant....
It would be easy if I can just buy my favourite flowers....

リッチモンドパークだけでなく、川沿いも人気のピクニックスポット。

Thames River is also popular picnic spot.

リッチモンドでピクニックしたら、近くのイタリアンジェラートショップでアイスクリームタイム。
人気のこのお店は、ちょっと暖かくなったら長蛇の列。
今回はオレンジ・ヨーグルトとロシェ(チョコとナッツのお菓子）。
チョコとオレンジは相性がよろしい。
