Margate ~ 海辺の街、マーゲイト

最近、ロンドンのおしゃれな人たちの間で人気の海辺の街、マーゲイトへ行ってきました!

 We went to Margate, where is becoming very popular among people in London!

電車の駅から出ると、いきなりの、海!

You can see beautiful sea when you get out of the train station!

実際に着いた時はめちゃめちゃ曇っていたのですが、
昼過ぎから運よく青い空と青い海を拝むことができました!
やっぱり曇りのときとはまったく違う色!

Actually it was very cloudy when I got out of the train station....
Luckily the weather recovered in the afternoon.
I could see the beautiful blue sky and sea!
Totally different scenery!

なにがいいかって、ここのビーチはちゃんと砂浜!
ロンドンから一番近いポピュラーなブライトンはごつごつの石浜なので、歩くのもきついほど。
やっぱり海は砂浜がいい～!

One of the best in Margate is, sand beach!
The beach of Brighton, where the closest beach from London I guess, is stone beach.
It's hard to walk too....
I definitely prefer sand beach!



人気の理由は砂浜だけではありません。
街へ行ってみましょう!

The reason why Margate is popular is not only the sand beach.
Let's go to the town!

レトロな町並みもキュートなのですが、

Although the townscape is quite retro and cute,

町のシンボルドリームランドや、

The town's symbol, Dreamland,

 ライド・タワーなどの、ポップなランドマークもかわいい!

and The lido tower is pop and cute!



でも人気なのは町並みではなくて…

But the reason why Margate is popular is not the townscape.

最近個性的なカフェや、

Recently, lots of unique cafes,

ギャラリー、  Galleries,

ステキなインディペンデントのお店がたくさん出来ていること!
ヴィンテージショップもたくさんあるんです。

and independent shops opened in Margate.
There are lots of vintage shops too!

 埠頭にはたくさんのシーフードショップ!
これもはずせません！

There are lots of seafood bars and restaurants!
 You can't miss it!

見所たっぷりのマーゲイト、お気に入りアドレスは2回にわたってお伝えしますね!
今週末辺りから暑さも出てくるみたいですし、つかの間の暑さが来るうちにビーチに行ってみては!?

最近、ロンドンのおしゃれな人たちの間で人気の海辺の街、マーゲイトへ行ってきました!

 We went to Margate, where is becoming very popular among people in London!

電車の駅から出ると、いきなりの、海!

You can see beautiful sea when you get out of the train station!

実際に着いた時はめちゃめちゃ曇っていたのですが、
昼過ぎから運よく青い空と青い海を拝むことができました!
やっぱり曇りのときとはまったく違う色!

Actually it was very cloudy when I got out of the train station....
Luckily the weather recovered in the afternoon.
I could see the beautiful blue sky and sea!

なにがいいかって、ここのビーチはちゃんと砂浜!
ロンドンから一番近いポピュラーなブライトンはごつごつの石浜なので、歩くのもきついほど。
やっぱり海は砂浜がいい～!

最近、私がフォローしているロンドンのおしゃれインスタグラマーさんたちの間でよく見かけたのが、こちらのレストラン!

I was interested in a restaurant which I often see photos in Instagramers' account I follow.
So I went there for lunch!

先日からご紹介しているエリア、エクスマウスマーケットのちょっとはずれにあります、
ボーン＆ホリングワース・ビルディングス。
めずらしいブラックの外観の中は…

Bourne and Hollingsworth Buildings.
It's near Exmouth Market, which I have been writing about in this blog.
The exterior is black, which is unusual....

とっても広々として、クリーンで明るい内装!
モダンなインテリアと、蚤の市で見つけてきたようなぼろぼろのヴィンテージ家具のミックスが、いい味出しています。

But the interior is very bright and clean.  So spacious.
It's very stylish that it was mixed with modern and vintage.

たくさんのグリーンにも癒されます。

Love the greens!!

ステキなインテリアにうっとり。
中でもこのコンサヴァトリーは、インスタグラマーの人たちがこぞって写真を撮っていて、
ステキだな～、ここで晴れの日にランチできたら!と思っていたのでした!
ところがこの日、私たち以外に2，3組しかランチしていなかったのにも関わらず、
コンサヴァトリーに座れるのは(週末の?　平日もいけるのかしら）ブランチのみだそう…
ぶぅ。混雑しているならわかるけど…。写真からもわかるとおり、がらがらだったのに。

I totally loved the interior.
Specially this conservatory.
I saw photos of this conservatory in Instagram and I wanted to have lunch there!
However, in spite of only few couples of customers there (including us), we were not allowed to have lunch there.....
They said it's only for brunch.  (only for weekend?)
Well...  I would understand if it was very busy, but only a few people were there....(you can see from my photo!)

気を取り直してランチです。
ここはお得な2コースで15ポンド、3コースで18ポンドのランチスペシャルがあるのですが、
私たちはこの日ちょっとお祝い事もあったので、贅沢にアラカルトで!
スターターはロブスターのスープ。
思ったよりさらさら!

Anyway, lunch!
They have great deal for lunch special, 2 courses for 15GBP, 3 courses for 18GBP.
But we had something to celebrate, so we had a la carte :)
The starter was a lobster soup.
It was very light!

メインは、私はシーブリーム(鯛。みたいな。）とケール、ブラウンシュリンプを添えて。
ブラウンシュリンプがこんな小エビだと思わなかったのと、結構塩辛なお味でした!
相方さんはビーフ!
ボリュームたっぷり!

I had a sea bream with kale and brown shrimps.
I didn't know brown shrimps were so small (I thought it was like prawns), and also very salty.
My mister had a beef.

おなかはいっぱいだったのですが、せっかく雰囲気のいいお店にいることだし、と
食後のデザートと紅茶で長居。
デザートはひとひねりあるメニューで、カルダモンのブリュレと、イチゴにペッパーをあえたもの。
スパイスの効いたデザートでした～。
今度はディナー、いやいや、やっぱりブランチをコンサヴァトリーで頂きたいかな!

We were very full, but very curious about their dessert.
We ordered a creme bruree with cardamom and strawberries with pepper.
Quite spicy!
I would love to come back again for dinner.... no, maybe for brunch :)

トラベリング・マドレーヌの大阪でのお取引が再び始まりました!!

There is a new shop you can find Travelling Madeleine's vintage jewellery in Osaka, Japan!
It's LILA SAYS, a special lovely vintage shop in Nakasaki-cho.

もともと私がインスタグラムで見つけて、アップされているコーディネートに惚れ込んで、一方的にいきなりアプローチさせていただいたのですが、
実はフタを開けてみると、オーナーさんは私の友人の友人であったことが判明!
これもご縁ということでしょうか、ステキなヴィンテージショップさんにおいていただけて、本当に本当にうれしいです!!
Lila Saysさんはガーリーなセレクトながらも、提案しているコーディネートは私の大好きなトレンドとのミックス。
ヴィンテージのドレスでクラシックな装いもあれば、ガーリーレースにハードなレザーや、アンティークブラウスにダメージドデニムなど、
本当に心憎いおしゃれなコーディネートを提案してくれます!
そこに私のセレクトしたアクセサリーも仲間入りできると思うと、本当に夢見心地です!

I found their Instagram account and fell in love with their coordinate.
I approached them to ask to sell my jewellery in their shop.
And we found out that we have a common friend!

I am so glad that my jewellery is in their shop!

私も大好きになってしまった、ミッドセンチュリーのクリップイヤリング。
カラフルでかわいいのがはいりました!

Lovely Mid-century clip earrings.

キュートな動物モチーフも。
フラミンゴのブローチはなかなか見ないデザイン!
キッチュなピンクがかわいい。

Cute animal brooches....

私の一押しはこちらのセットアップ。
どちらももともとはセットじゃないんですが…。あまりにかわいいのでセットアップで!
(もちろん、お店ではバラで購入いただけます。）
イチゴは大好きなモチーフですが、とってもかわいいビビッドなレッドのネックレスが入りました！
1980年代のネックレスです。
イヤリングはテイストはちょっと違いますが、カラフルでとってもかわいいです。おそらく50-60年代のもの。
マーガレットのイヤリングとチョーカーもとってもかわいいです!　1950年代のもの。

and these are my favourite!!

London Fashion Snap no.107-109 ~ Lovely 50's skirt style

8月になってもウールカーディガンやジャケットが必要なロンドン…。

I heard that it is going to be the hottest summer ever!! lol  When!!  When it's coming!?
When you live in this cold, cloudy, dark London, you want to wear something bright and light in spring and summer.  (even though it is cold outside!)
You often see people in 50s style skirts in vintage fairs in spring and summertime.
50's skirts are always with vivid bright colours and cute printed.  Those makes you happy when you see them.

8月になってもウールカーディガンやジャケットが必要なロンドン…。
今年は戦後最大の猛暑だって聞いたんですけど。笑　いつ来るんだ笑
年がら年中雲って暗くて寒いロンドンにいると、やっぱり春夏はぱっと明るい軽やかな装いがしたくなります。(いくら肌寒くても!）
ヴィンテージフェアでこの時期よく見かけるのは、やっぱり50'sスタイルのフレアスカート。
柄もこの時代のものはビビッドでキュートで見てるだけで華やぎます。
(一枚目はソールズブリーのフェアにて、4月。2枚目と3枚目はハマースミスのヴィンテージフェアにて、5月。）

先日ご紹介したエクスマウスマーケットで話題のブラッセリーへ行ってきました!

We went to a brasserie which is a popular spot in Exmouth Market where I wrote about last time.

 ミント・グリーンの外観がかわいいカフェ・ピストゥ。
外に並べられたたくさんのテーブル席は、パリのブラッセリーのよう。

Cafe Pistou.  It has a cute mint green exterior.
There are lots of tables outside, which is like a brasserie in France.

中はおしゃれなモダン・ヴィンテージな内装。

The interior is stylish modern vintage style.

プロヴァンスのブラッセリーだけあって、南フランスのレトロなポストカードが並んでいて、かわいい！

It is a Provencale brasserie, so that there are retro postcards of South France at the bar.

この日はブランチメニューを頂きました。
私はアボカドとドライトマト・オン・トーストをベーコンと。
アボカド・オン・トーストはもはやブランチの定番メニューですが、バジルペーストと一緒はなかなかないかも!
もちろん、バジルとトマトは相性最高なのでおいしいに決まってる。

We had a brunch menu.
I had Avocado, Sunblush tomato and Bacon on Toast.
Avocado on Toast is one of the most typical menu for brunch, but never had with basil paste.
Of course, tomato and basil is a perfect combination, never go wrong with it.

相方さんが頼んだのは、プロヴァンサル・ベジタブル・シェパーズ・パイ。
シェパーズパイといえば、ラムのひき肉にマッシュポテトをのせて焼いたオーブン料理ですが。
プロヴァンサル、しかもベジタブルということで、完全に違う料理に!
薄皮で包まれた中身に興味津々。
中は、フムス、そしてその下は野菜のトマトグラタン、みたいなものでした。
どちらも、ありきたりなブランチメニューでなくてひとひねりしているメニューで、それが新鮮。
お味ももちろんおいしかったです!
次回は夜に来なくっちゃ!

My mister had a Provencale Vegetable Shepherd's Pie.
It's a totally different dish from usual British one!
I was so interested in what the inside is.
It was humus and a kind of vegetable tomato gratin.
Both dishes were quite twisted and it was so new to us.
The taste was so good as well.
We must come back for dinner next time!

先日ご紹介したエクスマウスマーケットで話題のブラッセリーへ行ってきました!

We went to a brasserie which is a popular spot in Exmouth Market where I wrote about last time.

 ミント・グリーンの外観がかわいいカフェ・ピストゥ。
外に並べられたたくさんのテーブル席は、パリのブラッセリーのよう。

Cafe Pistou.  It has a cute mint green exterior.
There are lots of tables outside, which is like a brasserie in France.

中はおしゃれなモダン・ヴィンテージな内装。

The interior is stylish modern vintage style.

プロヴァンスのブラッセリーだけあって、南フランスのレトロなポストカードが並んでいて、かわいい！

It is a Provencale brasserie, so that there are retro postcards of South France at the bar.

この日はブランチメニューを頂きました。

どちらも、ありきたりなブランチメニューでなくてひとひねりしているメニューで、それが新鮮。
お味ももちろんおいしかったです!
次回は夜に来なくっちゃ!

My mister had a Provencale Vegetable Shepherd's Pie.
It's a totally different dish from usual British one!
I was so interested in what the inside is.
It was humus and a kind of vegetable tomato gratin.
Both dishes were quite twisted and it was so new to us.
The taste was so good as well.
We must come back for dinner next time!
