寒空の中、屋外ギャラリーをひとしきり歩ききったら、またカフェです。

今回は前回と違ってクラシカルなカフェ。


After we walked along the East Side Gallery, we went to a cafe.
It was a classical style cafe, not like last time.

落ち着いたセピアの空間、シックな雰囲気。

ピシッとしたギャルソン服のウェイターたち。

オーストリアスタイルのカフェ。


Subdued sepia room, chic atomosphere.
All servers looked smart in their uniform.
Austrian style cafe.

左がこちらの名物の、アップル・シュトゥルーデル。

右は黒い森のケーキ。ドイツに来たら食べなきゃね。と思って。

こちらはコーヒーがおいしいとのことだったので、
オーストリアスタイルのカフェなら、やっぱウィンナ・コーヒーでしょ。

さすがに名物のアップルパイはおいしゅうございました~!


The left is the speciality of this cafe, the apple strudel.
The right is the black forest cake.  We must eat it in Germany, mustn't we?
I heard that their coffee was excellent, so I ordered Vienna style coffee. （Coffee with whip cream)
The apple strudel tasted great....!!!!

Winter Berlin Story 　Jan-Feb 2012　vol.6

寒空の中、屋外ギャラリーをひとしきり歩ききったら、またカフェです。

今回は前回と違ってクラシカルなカフェ。


After we walked along the East Side Gallery, we went to a cafe.
It was a classical style cafe, not like last time.

落ち着いたセピアの空間、シックな雰囲気。

ピシッとしたギャルソン服のウェイターたち。

オーストリアスタイルのカフェ。

MK Handmade & Vintage Extravaganza

最近、ロンドンのヴィンテージマーケットでは物足りなくて（だって高い）、
郊外のLewesなどに注目している私。

お気に入りのストールホルダーさんが出展するというので、見つけてきたのがこちら。

MK Handmade & Vintage Extravaganza。


These days, I'm interested in markets or vintage shops outside of London, such as Lewes.
I found a market as my favourite stall holder opens her shop there.
MK handmade & Vintage Extravaganza.

MKというのは、このマーケットのある街の名前、Milton Keynesの略。

どこそれ？って感じなんですが、オックスフォードとケンブリッジのちょうど真ん中あたり。

ユーストンからは電車で３０分ぐらいです。


MK is short for Milton Keynes, where the market is.
I didn't know the town.  It's between Oxford and Cambridge.
It is 30 minutes away by train from Euston.

 Milton Keynesはケンブリッジとオックスフォードの間にあるとはいえ、
街自体は二つの町とは比べ物にならないくらい真新しい町。

町自体が大きなショッピングセンター!?　

マーケットの会場もショッピングセンター内。

まさかショッピングセンターの中とは思っていなかったので、最初は迷ったけれど、
着いてみるとたくさんのキュートなストールに思わず心躍る!!


Although Milton Keynes is between Cambridge and Oxford,
the town is very new, not like those 2 old towns.
Milton Keynes is just a big shopping centre.
The market is in the shopping centre.
I didn't think that the market is in there, so we were lost a bit,
but I finally found a lot of cute stalls.  I was so excited!

かわいいヴィンテージ雑貨はもちろん、アクセサリーから服飾小物、食器など、

Cute vintage items, jewellery, accessories, tableware......

洋服、      Clothes,

家具など、大きなものまで。

And furniture, etc!

 Handmade & Vintageのマーケットなので、半分くらいはハンドメイド物を扱っていました。

It's a handmade & Vintage market, so the half of stalls were selling handmade stuff.

でも、ハンドメイドとヴィンテージを一緒においていたり。

Some stalls had vintage stuff with their handmade items.

どのストールも乙女心がキュン死にするほどかわいい!

Anyway, all stalls were SO cute.

こちらが私が追いかけていったお気に入りショップ、Simply Vintageさん。

ティーカップのキャンドルやピン刺しなどを作ってるほか、ヴィンテージ雑貨もたくさん!


This is my favourite stall, Simply Vintage.
I followed her and got known this market.
She made teacup candles and pin cushions.
Also she had an amazing vintage collections.

カラフルでガーリーなヴィンテージ雑貨のほかにも、
キッチュな復刻ヴィンテージのプラスチックアクセを売っていたLily Wynterさん。


This stall was so cute..... 
They sold colourful & girly vintage stuff  and kitsch plastic accessories.

ヴィンテージだけ狙っていた私は、半分ほどはスルーでしたが、それでも十分楽しめたし、
ハンドメイドも好きな人にはもっと楽しめるかと。

残念なのは、Milton Keynesの街自体はそんなに見るところがなくて、
マーケットが終了したらもうおしまい…。

せっかく電車に乗って遠出したなら町もぶらぶらして楽しみたいところですが、
ほんとにショッピングセンターしかないので。

でもユーストンからそんなに遠くないので、
朝早く行ったら午後はロンドンでまた一日楽しめますよー。


I enjoyed the market so much, but the town was not so interesting.....
As soon as I finished shopping, we headed back to London.
But Milton Keynes is not far from Euston.
If you get there early, then you can still enjoy the day in London or you can enjoy the huge shopping centre there.

最近、ロンドンのヴィンテージマーケットでは物足りなくて（だって高い）、
郊外のLewesなどに注目している私。

お気に入りのストールホルダーさんが出展するというので、見つけてきたのがこちら。

MK Handmade & Vintage Extravaganza。


These days, I'm interested in markets or vintage shops outside of London, such as Lewes.
I found a market as my favourite stall holder opens her shop there.

MKというのは、このマーケットのある街の名前、Milton Keynesの略。

どこそれ？って感じなんですが、オックスフォードとケンブリッジのちょうど真ん中あたり。

ユーストンからは電車で３０分ぐらいです。

着いてみるとたくさんのキュートなストールに思わず心躍る!!

musical*Top Hat~トップ・ハット

久しぶりのミュージカル・レビューです!

昨年オープンしてからずっと見たいと思っていた「トップ・ハット」、ついに見ることができました。


I went to see the musical "Top Hat" last week.

言わずと知れた、アステア＆ロジャースの映画「トップ・ハット」の舞台化。

実は私、映画を見たことがなくて、舞台の前に予習しておこうと映画を拝見したところ、

う～ん…。私の好みではなかった…。

映画はもう、ロジャースとアステアのダンスを見せたいんです！っていうだけの作品に思えてならなくて。

ストーリーはもちろん、場のつなぎ、セットなど
（特にヴェニスのシーンは、ディズニーのイッツ・ア・スモールワールド!?かと思った…）
映画技術的に、なんだかなあ、と…。

私がカラー好きで、白黒映画はあまり好きではない、というのもありますが。

それにしても同じアステアの「パリの恋人」とはえらい違いだわ…。

というわけで、ちょっと見る気がなえてきて、ついこの間オープンしたコーラスラインとぎりぎりまで迷ったのですが、
つい先日お会いした舞台通のTさんによると、トップハットめちゃくちゃいいよ!ということなので、
単純な私は再び見る気になったのでした。

人気作なのでLast minuteでもあまり安いチケットがなかったし、
私の大好きな最前列の25ポンドチケットもこの劇場ではなかったので、
久々にレスタースクエアのチケッツへ。

前から3列目の真ん中らへんをゲット!　

40ポンドしたけど、日本での舞台と比べたらまだまだ格段にお安い!


As you know without needing telling,
this is the stage version of the famous musical film "Top Hat" of Astaire and Rogers.
Actually, I had never seen the film, so I watched it before I went to the theatre.
But............it was not my favourite film......................
Although Astaire and Rogers' dancing was great, 
the story, the set, and the continuity..... I didn't enjoy it from the viewpoint of cinematographic work.
as I don't really like old films..... (specially I prefer colour films,)
It was great difference from the same Astaire's film "Funny Face"!
I have lost interest in Top Hat and wondering to see Chorus Line instead which is just opened.
But my friend, who knows everything about West End, told me Top Hat was fantastic and fun,
also it has lots of tap dancing (which is what I really wanted to see!).
So I decided to see it!



そして感想はというと…。

ほんとにめちゃくちゃよかった～!!

映画はほんとにアステアとロジャースの二人しか踊ってない感じだったのですが、
舞台ではそういうわけにも行かないので、もちろんアンサンブルのダンスシーンが大幅にアップ。

オープニングからタップダンスの嵐!

最近、私の中でタップが熱かったので、本当に興奮しました!

そしてタップともう一つ、アステア＆ロジャースに代表されるボールルームダンス。

特に2幕のヴェニスのシーンから迫力あるダンスシーンが満載。

イギリスではここ数年テレビで、芸能人社交ダンス部のような、
セレブが社交ダンスやペアのフィギュアスケートに挑戦する番組が続いたりして、
ボールルームダンスやパートナリングダンスが人気なんです。

その辺もこのミュージカルが人気の秘密かも。

すごく見ごたえがあり、大満足です!


And, my impression of the musical was.......　really great!!!!
In the stage version, there were more dancing, dancing, dancing!
In the film version, you almost only see Astaire and Rogers' dancing,
however, they put more dance scene for ensembles.
Lots of tap dancing from the opening!!
Also, thinking about Astaire and Rogers, of course there were lots of ballroom dancing, specially from the Act 2.
If you would like to see dancing, you will love it!



しかも、主役二人が踊れるから舞台が締まるんですよね～。

オリジナルのキャストはもうすべて交代していたので見られなかったのは残念ですが、

（オリジナルのジェリー役がすごく評判が良かったらしいので。）

私は今のキャストにも大満足でしたよ～。

ジェリー役の人はアメリカンアクセントが（アステアってこんなんだったっけ）っていう違和感はあるものの、
スタイルがすらっとしてエレガントなダンスがなんとなくアステアを彷彿とさせるし、
デイル役の人もダンス・歌ともによかった！


The most important thing in a dance musical is, the main rolls must be dancers.
They make a musical sparkle.
Although it was a shame I couldn't see the original cast,
(as I heard the original cast of Jerry was really great like Fred Astaire ),
I loved the current cast.
Gavin Lee, who plays Jerry, was tall, and his dance style was elegant, which had a resemblance to Astaire.
Kristen Beth Williams, who plays Dale was also an amazing musical actress and dancer!



しかし、なんと言っても脇役が良かったですよ～！

特にイタリア人デザイナーのアルベルト!!

彼のためのナンバーが本当に本当に面白くて、彼のナンバーはこの一曲だけだったのですが、
完全に舞台を物にしていました。

このナンバーを見るためにもう一度舞台を見たいくらい!

なので、この舞台のために書き下ろされたものかと思ったら、
すべて映画と同じ作曲者の曲からとられているんですね～!

他にもホレスの執事役がことあるごとに笑いを取っていました。


But, I have to say, supporting rolls were as brilliant as leading rolls.
Especially, the Italian designer, Alberto!!
His number was just one song, but it was REALLY funny,　he completely got the stage.
I would love to see the musical again to see his number!
Since his number was perfect for his performance,
I thought the new numbers were written for the stage version,
but it was also by Irving Berlin who wrote the mucic for the film version.
Also Bates, Horace's butler,  was a brilliant character and threw the theatre into the convulsions of laughter.



実は、この日体調がわるくて救急病院にいっていたんですが、
検査の結果は異常なし、しかし原因不明なため悶々としていて、かなり落ち込んでいたんですが、
このミュージカルを見たらすごくハッピーな気分になれました!

確かに、目新しさはないものの、古きよきミュージカル、思いっきりダンスを堪能したい方にはお勧めです!

日本でもやらないかな～。宝塚とかがやったらはまりそうなのに！


To tell the truth, I was ill and went to an emergency hospital that day.
The test was all fine, but the cause was unknown so that I was really worried.
But the musical made me happy!!!
It doesn't have novelty or freshness, but it is the musical of the good, old, golden age of musicals.
If you would like to enjoy to see dancing, MUST see it!
I wish this production goes to Japan......   Takarazuka might be the best company to play it. :)

久しぶりのミュージカル・レビューです!

昨年オープンしてからずっと見たいと思っていた「トップ・ハット」、ついに見ることができました。


I went to see the musical "Top Hat" last week.

言わずと知れた、アステア＆ロジャースの映画「トップ・ハット」の舞台化。

実は私、映画を見たことがなくて、舞台の前に予習しておこうと映画を拝見したところ、

う～ん…。私の好みではなかった…。

映画はもう、ロジャースとアステアのダンスを見せたいんです！っていうだけの作品に思えてならなくて。

ストーリーはもちろん、場のつなぎ、セットなど
（特にヴェニスのシーンは、ディズニーのイッツ・ア・スモールワールド!?かと思った…）
映画技術的に、なんだかなあ、と…。

私がカラー好きで、白黒映画はあまり好きではない、というのもありますが。

それにしても同じアステアの「パリの恋人」とはえらい違いだわ…。

というわけで、ちょっと見る気がなえてきて、ついこの間オープンしたコーラスラインとぎりぎりまで迷ったのですが、

そして感想はというと…。

ほんとにめちゃくちゃよかった～!!

Beige & Black chic

Vintage Furniture Fleaにて。

ビッグシルエットのロングコートがすごく似合っていた彼女。

彼女自身はすごく小柄なんだけれど、「服に着られてる」感もなく、完全に物にしていた。

小物は全部黒で統一。

これもベージュ＋黒のシンプルさをひときわスタイリッシュに引き立てて。

私も今年、このシルエットの黒いコートを買おうと思っていたんだけれど、
ぼけっとしてたら売り切れちゃった．．．。

個人的には彼女の髪型がすごく好み!

20年代風にもあうしね。黒に戻したらパーマかけようかな～。

The big silhouette coat suited her well.
She was not tall, but the coat wasn't too big for her and it doesn't look too big at all.
Perfectly matched for her.
Her accessories were all black.
That colour combination also set off her simple and stylish
I was thinking to buy a black big silhouette coat this season, but it was sold out already...
By the way, I love her hair style.
It looks the 20s too, I might have my hair permed when I got my hair back to black!

Vintage Furniture Fleaにて。

ビッグシルエットのロングコートがすごく似合っていた彼女。

彼女自身はすごく小柄なんだけれど、「服に着られてる」感もなく、完全に物にしていた。

小物は全部黒で統一。

これもベージュ＋黒のシンプルさをひときわスタイリッシュに引き立てて。

私も今年、このシルエットの黒いコートを買おうと思っていたんだけれど、
ぼけっとしてたら売り切れちゃった．．．。

個人的には彼女の髪型がすごく好み!

20年代風にもあうしね。黒に戻したらパーマかけようかな～。

Italian*Locanda Ottoemezzo

先日のバレンタインディナーに行ったレストランをご紹介。

ケンジントンにあるおしゃれイタリアン、Locanda Ottoemezzo。


I will write about the stylish Italian restaurant which we went for dinner on Valentine's Day.
Locanda Ottoemezzo in High Street Kensington.

 前から知っていたのですが、ブログには紹介しそびれていました。

私の中では間違いなくロンドンで5本の指に入るイタリアン!

バレンタインはディナーに行ったのですが、店内が暗くて写真がきれいに撮れませんでした。

なので、写真は去年のものでご勘弁ください～。


I have known this restaurant for a while, but I haven't write about it in my blog.
It is definitely one of the best Italian restaurant in London!! (for me!)
I went there for dinner, but I couldn't take nice photos this time.
So I'll show you photos from last year.

お店の名前からもわかるとおり、60年代のイタリア映画「8 1/2」をイメージとした店内インテリア。

赤い壁がとってもおしゃれ感いっぱいのこじゃれたお店です。

（なのにランチにはビジネスランチしてるおじ様たちが結構多いのも、
「あ、ここ、おいしいんだな」と思わせていい感じなのだ。）


As you might realize that from their name, the image of their interior is the 60's Italian film "8 1/2" .
It is very stylish place with the vivid red wall.
(But there were many businessmen at lunch time rather than young people.
The fact made me think that this restaurant must be very good :))

まあ、私は映画を見たことがないので、本当にこんな感じなのかはわからないのですが、
ビスチェ型ランプだったり、プレイボーイの裸のおねーさんのポスターだったりが貼られていて、
ちょっと退廃的な雰囲気。

でも、ちっともいやらしくない、本当にスタイリッシュにまとまっているインテリアです。

さて、そんなオサレ空間で頂く本格イタリアン。


I have never seen the film so I don't know whether this restaurant is really showing image of the film.
There were the lamp shaped a bustier, and posters of naked ladies of Playboy....
The interior looked decadent.  But not indecent, it is really stylish.
And you can have the genuine Italian food there.

まずはパンと突き出しが無料サービス。

こんなところも心憎くてうれしくなってしまいます。

パンもバラエティがあってすごくおいしい!


They gave us a little hors d'oeuvre and bread for free.
How excellent service!
Their bread is great and have numbers of varieties.

スターターは、左が去年のロブスターとバターナッツスクワッシュのスープ。

これがめちゃくちゃおいしくて…。

ほんとにほんとにおいしくて…。（月並みな言い方しか出来なくてすいません。）

これがあるのを期待していったんだけど、やはりメニューは毎シーズン変わっているようで。

今回は右のカルパッチョを頂きました。

生肉食べるの久しぶり!　これも素材が生きてておいしゅうございました!


The starter.  The left one is the soup of lobster and butternut squash from last year.
It was SO delicious.........  really really delicious.......  (sorry for my poor vocabulary....)
I wanted to have the same one this year, but I guess they change their menu by season or everyday.
I had the carpaccio (the right) this time.
I haven't eaten the raw meat!  It was really nice and made good use of the meat.

こちらはメイン。

私ってば去年も今年もパスタ食べてた。

左が去年のナスとなんかのパスタ。（忘れた。）

右が今年のかにのトマトパスタ…。

かにに飢えてた私が速攻でチョイスしたのはお分かりでしょう…。

日本のかにとは違うけど、蟹は蟹。

パスタもこしがあっておいしい!

ちなみに相方さんは写真奥にぼやけてうつってるステーキ。

これがお肉がステーキなのにほろほろでおいしくって!

まさに正しいお肉の食べ方といえる。

どちらもおいしかったけど、こんないいお肉って普段は食べられないから、
お肉のほうが好みだったな…。


Main course.
I had pasta both times.
The left is pasta with aubergine and something.  (I forgot....)
The right is tomato pasta with crab.
I really wanted to have crab as I don't really eat crab here.
It's totally different from the Japanese crab, but still crab.
Pasta was beautiful al dente.
My partner took steak.
Ah, that steak was sooooo soft and yummy!!
This is the right way to eat meat.
I loved both of pasta and meat, but as I can't really get nice meat from supermarket,
I should have taken steak....!!

ちなみにナスのパスタ、開けるとこんな感じなのです。

By the way, inside of Aubergine is like this.

去年はここのガトーショコラをデザートに。

最近昼間に行ってないので今もあるかはちょっとわからないのですが、
ケーキやチョコレートも売ってるんです。


I had a gateau chocolat last year for dessert.
I haven't been there in the daytime for ages so I don't know,
but they were selling chocolates and cakes.

それだけでなく、本格イタリアンはちょっとお値段が張るな～。という人には、
ランチのカフェがお勧め。

10ポンド以内でラザニアやパスタなど、おいしさはもちろんそのままでいただけます。

サンドイッチを買って近くのケンジントンガーデンでピクニックもお勧め。

おいしいイタリアンをお求めの方は、ぜひここへ!


It's a proper genuine restaurant. 
But if you think it's a bit expensive, I recommend to go to their cafe (only for lunch time).
They have excellent lasagne, pasta and so on around 10 pounds.
Or you can get sandwich from there and go on picnic to Kensington Garden.
If you want to have nice Italian food, must go!

先日のバレンタインディナーに行ったレストランをご紹介。

ケンジントンにあるおしゃれイタリアン、Locanda Ottoemezzo。


I will write about the stylish Italian restaurant which we went for dinner on Valentine's Day.

 前から知っていたのですが、ブログには紹介しそびれていました。

I have known this restaurant for a while, but I haven't write about it in my blog.
It is definitely one of the best Italian restaurant in London!! (for me!)
I went there for dinner, but I couldn't take nice photos this time.

お店の名前からもわかるとおり、60年代のイタリア映画「8 1/2」をイメージとした店内インテリア。

赤い壁がとってもおしゃれ感いっぱいのこじゃれたお店です。

まあ、私は映画を見たことがないので、本当にこんな感じなのかはわからないのですが、
ビスチェ型ランプだったり、プレイボーイの裸のおねーさんのポスターだったりが貼られていて、
