まだお気づきでない方のために…
The Mad Journalは、このたびTravelling Madeleineと名を改めて再出発いたしました。
名前とアドレスが変わっただけで、以前の記事はこのブログで読めますのでご安心ください。
先週末と、先々週末は、海辺の街へ行ってきました～。

If you haven't noticed... The Mad Journal has changed its title to TRAVELLING MADELEINE.

We went to seaside towns last 2 weekends!

まずは、東イングランドのマーゲイトへ！
以前行った海辺の街、ウィスタブルのさらに東です。
最近、ヴィンテージ好きのおしゃれな人たちの間で話題になっている街なので、楽しみにして行ってきました！

First, we went to Matgate, in East England.
It's further East than Whistable where we visited before.
Margate is getting very popular among vintage lovers!
I was really looking forward to going there.

相方さんの話だと、昔はだいぶラフだった模様。
それが今や、おしゃれなカフェやヴィンテージショップが並ぶシーサイドタウンに。

My mister said Margate used tone quite rough in old days.
Now, it's very cute town with lots of vintage shops and cute cafes.

ここではヴィンテージショップはもちろん、かわいいセレクトショップや、アートギャラリーもたくさん！

Lovely vintage shops, also there are great galleries and independent shops!

もちろんティータイムも。

Of course we had a teatime there too!

その翌週、さらに東にあるラムズゲイトへ行ってきました。

And last weekend, we went to Ramsgate.

ヴィンテージフェアがあると聞いて行ってきたのですが…クラフトのほうが多かったかな。
でもここ、とっても大きなアンティークセンターがあるんです。
他にもヴィンテージショップがちらほら。
残念だったのは、寒かったこと！
6月にはあったかくなってるだろうと思って電車のチケットを取ったけど、甘かった…。
どちらも日本のような砂のビーチがあるので、いつか泳ぎに来れたらなあ！
また詳しいシティガイドは後ほど。

I heard that there was a vintage fair....but it was smaller than I expected.
However, there is a huge antique & vintage centre.
There were some nice vintage shops too.
Unfortunately it was a bit chilly!
I hoped it would be hot in June, that's why I booked train tickets...
But there is nice sand beach, I would love to come back in a proper summer day!

もちろんティータイムも。

Of course we had a teatime there too!

その翌週、さらに東にあるラムズゲイトへ行ってきました。

And last weekend, we went to Ramsgate.

ブログタイトルを変えて、初のファッションスナップは、イーストロンドン・ヴィンテージフェアにて。(４月)
彼女は有名ブロガーのサラさん。
彼女のボヘミアンなスタイルが大人気のファッションブロガーさんで、
彼女が運営するオンライン・ヴィンテージショップもステキなセレクションで、実は大ファン。
その彼女のお店が今回このフェアに来ると聞いて、気になっていたフェアでもあり、行ってきました！

実際にお会いできて感激でした!

She is a famous blogger, Sara.
Her blog is so stylish with her 70s bohemian style!!
I love her online vintage shop too.
I went to this fair because I heard she was coming to sell her vintage.
I loved her stall and she was so beautiful too!

いつもThe Mad Journalをお読みくださっている皆様、ありがとうございます。
The Mad Journalは、２０１６年６月をもちまして、

Travelling Madeleine　(トラベリング・マドレーヌ)

と名称を変更いたしました。

Thank you for reading my blog "The Mad Journal".
The Mad Journal changed the title to Travelling Madeleine from June 2016.

在英丸１０年を迎え、これからもヴィンテージセレクトや写真をもっと皆様に見ていただきたいという想いから、
The Mad Vintageのショップを広く知っていただくためにブログとショップの名前を統合しました。
これからはこのブログで紹介しているような写真のプロダクト（Zineやポストカード、カレンダー等)も販売していきたいと思い、
Vintageの名前を取ってまったく別の名前にしました!

Since I have lived in UK for 10 years, I wanted to let people know about my blog and vintage shop,
so I decided to unify the names of my blog and shop.
I would like to make zines, postcards, calender and so on with my photos in the future,
so I got rid of "vintage" from the name.

マドレーヌは、私の名前、まどかにひっかけてあることと、
ぎりぎりまで迷ったもう一つのブログタイトル、「Madeleine Effect (マドレーヌ効果）」からとっています。
マドレーヌ効果とは、別名プルースト効果。
プルーストの名作「失われた時を求めて」で、主人公がマドレーヌを食べた瞬間に過去の記憶が一気に呼び覚まされたことから、
嗅覚や味覚で過去の記憶が呼び覚まされる現象を言います。
そんな感覚を、私の撮った写真や古いものたちから感じ取ってもらえたら、と願いをこめて。
もちろん、ただ単に私がマドレーヌ好き、というのもあります。笑

The reason why I picked "madeleine" is,
first, it's from my name Madoka,
Second, I just like the cake, lol,
at last, it's from another name I was thinking for the blog title, "Madeleine Effect".
Madeleine Effect is also called "Proust Effect".
It's from the famous episode in Proust's famous novel "In Search of Lost Time", which is, the narrator got a flashback of his memory when he bit a madeleine.
I would like everyone has such a feeling from my photos and my selection of old things.

ブログのほうはこれからも変わらず、(いや、できればもっと頻繁に!笑）
ロンドンのおしゃれカフェ・ショップ情報や私のどーでもロンドンライフ、旅先のステキな写真などをお届けしていきます。

My blog contents wouldn't change at all. (but more often updates!)
I will write about cute cafes, shops, and my life in London and my travel journal.

ショップはまだ準備できていませんが、オンラインで販売することを目標としています。
直に商品をお客様に見ていただきたいという思いは変わりませんので、ちゃんとしたショップになるかはまだわかりませんが、
まずはインスタグラムを使ったショップを始めようかな、と思っております。
これをもちまして、The Mad VintageのFacebookページは閉鎖し、
インスタグラム一本でいこうと思っております。
商品の紹介も、インスタグラム上で毎週１回はコンスタントにアップしようと思ってますので、
ぜひインスタグラムのアカウント、＠travellingmadeleine　をフォローしてくださいね!
インスタグラムやってないという方は、このブログの右側にリンクがありますので、
そちらから常に最新の写真をチェックすることができます。
また、Twitter (ツィッターはアカウントは変えられず、今のところ@themadjournal です）にも常にリンクしていますので、そちらから見ることができます。

My shop is not ready yet, but would like to have an online shop.
However, I always want to show my items directly, so I am still thinking about it.
Anyway I might start from Instagram.
I will close down the facebook page of The Mad Vintage, and just do Instagram.
I will show my items in Instagram at least once a week, so please follow my Instagram account @travellingmadeleine !
If you don't have Instagram account, I have a link on the right side of my blog so you can check my latest photos from there.
Also my Instagram is linked to my Twitter account too.
(I couldn't change my Twitter account name, so it's still @themadjournal .)

New start!! TRAVELLING MADELEINE

ポートベローマーケットからちょっと外れた、ラドブローク・グローブとウェストボーン・パークの間に、ステキなベーカリーカフェを発見。

I found a lovely cafe between Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park.

ザ・ティン・シェッド。
このカフェのあるオールセインツロードは、ポートベローの喧騒から離れて、静かに落ち着けるお店やバーがある穴場。

The Tin Shed.
This cafe is in All Saints Road, where is away from busy Portbello Road and have some cool bars and shops.

このカフェも然り。
実はこの日は別の人気カフェに行ったのですが満員で入れず。
ちょっと離れたこのカフェはとっても静かでゆったりできました。

カウンターにはおいしそうなケーキがずらり。
実は入るまで知らなかったのですが、ここはベーカリーカフェ。
ということは、ベイキングには定評があるはず…。
地下には大きなベイキングのキッチンがあり、これは期待できそう！

とはいえ、まずはランチから。
この日はかなり遅く来てしまったので、シンプルなオムレツしかなかったのですが、
これが以外にもものすご～くおいしくて感動。
本当にシンプルすぎるくらいのハムとチーズのオムレツなのですが、
オムレツがぷるっぷるのふわっふわ。
フレンチのシェフにオムレツを作らせれば実力がわかる、って聞いた気がするけれど、
まさに、このことか！と思うくらい。
オムレツって本当にシンプルで、外で食べるほど好きなメニューではないけど、ここにはまたオムレツを食べに来たいと思うほど。

First, we have to have lunch!
We were too late that day, so that we only could have simple omelets.
But, it was so delicious, I was surprised!
It was a very simple ham & cheese omlet, but it was so fluffy!
I heard that omelet is a menu to measure capability of French chef.
I realized that how different the ordinary omelet and good omelet!!
I don't really order omelet when I eat out, but I want to have omelet here again!

もちろん、ここまで来てデザートを食べずに帰れません。
おなかいっぱいだったので一つのケーキをシェアしましたが…
それを後悔するほど、おいしかった～!
ケーキはふわふわでしっとり。
味もおいしかった～。(これはチョコマーブルケーキでした。）
上がカリカリなのが私好みで、さらに○。
他のケーキもぜひぜひトライしてみたい!

And of course, we can't ignore dessert, can we!?
We were full, so we share a slice of cake....but I regretted it.....
It was so delicious!!
The cake was so soft and moist.
I loved the crust of the top of the cake too....
I must try other cakes!!

ギルフォードに行く人がおすすめしたいアドレスをご紹介!

Here are my favourite addresses in Guildford!

ギルフォード城公園近くにあるこのKalm Cafeは、こじんまりしているけれど、
フードが充実しているカフェ。

Kalm cafe is near Guildford castle.
It's cosy, but they have lots of food menu.

スィーツ類はもちろん…

Of course they have plenty of sweets....

ランチメニューも豊富。

ちょうどランチタイムに来ると、店のカウンターで行列で待たないといけないほど。

壁にかかったヴィンテージのお皿がかわいい。

ランチプレートは、メインに好きなサラダを２種チョイスできます。
(３種盛りの大盛りもあります。）
この日はチキンのパイをチョイス。
ペイストリーがさくさくでおいしい!
こちらはウェディングなんかのケイタリングで賞も受賞したチームが経営するカフェだそう。
どうりでフードがおいしいはずだ!
今度はケーキも食べてみたい!

For a lunch plate, you can choose 2 kinds of salad with main.
(you can choose 3, if you want)
I picked a chicken pie for a main.
It was so fresh and delicious.
This cafe is run by a team who were awarded for wedding catering.
Now, I see why the food is so good!
I want to try cakes next time!

もうひとつは、おしゃれな外観と入り口近くにあるおいしそうなケーキを見て、吸い込まれるように入ったAmor Amora。

Another my favourite cafe in Guildford is Amor Amora.
I couldn't resist getting in when I found their fabulous interior and yummy cakes near the entrance!!

ヴィンテージ家具、飾られたお花、きらきらシャンデリアのパーツやかわいい動物たちなど、すごくかわいいインテリア。

Lovely interior with vintage furniture, cute flowers, shiny chandelier parts and cute animals....

２階にはテラス席もあります。

They also have terrace .

気を使ったナチュラルインテリアにシャンデリアグラスや鏡を合わせるインテリア、ステキ!

Lovely natural interior with wood and vintage chandelier and mirrors....

普通サイズのケーキを試したいところでしたが、おなかがいっぱいだったので小さめのケーキをチョイス。
でも甘いケーキにお茶で、ちょうどよいサイズでした!
お茶やドリンクのチョイスもたくさん。お酒もあります。
残念なのはお値段がセントラルロンドン並だということ!
でもステキなカフェなので、おすすめです!

I wanted a big cake, but I was full.
I picked a small cake, but it was perfect for me.
They had a lot of choices of drinks including alcohol.
The only thing is, a bit expensive as Central London...
But it's very lovely cafe!!
