《前回までのお話》
憧れのアンティークの町、ルイスに来たものの、家を出たのが遅く、
アンティークショップを数件回ったらもう夕方。
閉店前のカフェに滑り込み、お茶して休憩した後、街探検に出たのであった。
というわけで。ルイスの続きです。
We are still in Lewes.
ルイスの町の中心に、ふる～いお城があります。
もちろん、私たちが行った時間は閉まってましたが…。
There is an old castle in the centre of Lewes.
It was closed by the time we got there though........
11世紀、ウィリアム征服王の親族によってたてられたノルマン王朝時代のお城。
歴史の古い町なのですね!
The castle was built in the 11th century, Norman dynasty, by the family of William the Conqueror.
The town is so old!
お城の横の小高い丘の上では、おじ様たちがペタンクしていました。
グリーンがまぶしいほどにきれい。
Some men were playing petanque on the hill next to the castle.
The green was so bright and beautiful.
丘の上からの眺めは最高!
The great view from the hill!
町の中心からちょっとそれると、壁の向こうにとってもステキなお庭を発見。
鉄格子の向こうに見えるお庭を眺める私は、まるで小さい扉を前にするアリスの気分!
ああ、どうやったらあのお庭にいけるのかしら!?
After we walked a little bit away from the town centre,
we found a beautiful garden through the wall.
I didn't know how to get to the garden, I feel like Alice from Alice in Wonderland!
Oh, How can I get to the garden?
あきらめて１０ｍほど歩くと、普通に入り口発見。普通の公園でした。
アリス気分、終了。
I gave up, and walked away. I found the entrance just 10m away.
Mad in Wonderland is an end.
普通の公園がこんなに華やかだなんてうらやましい!
It's so nice to have the flowery garden nearby!
お庭は公園としてパブリックにオープンしているけれど、たぶんもとはこの建物のお庭。
この建物も確か１７世紀のもの。
建物は現在お店になっています。
The garden is opened to the public, but I think it was originally belong to this building.
This building was built in the 17th century.
It's a shop now.
ルイスのセンターからちょっと歩くだけで、自然がいっぱいのフットパスに。
If you walk away from the town centre, you can find a public footpath in nature.
相方さんが野生のウサギを発見!!
私は草むらに駆け込む影を見ただけ．．．。
どうしても野生のウサギを見たい！
ウサギを求めて雨でぬかるんだ森の中をきゃいきゃい言いながら駆け回る、いい年した怪しげカップル．．．。
小学生かっ。
My partner found a wild rabbit.
I just saw the silhouette running into the bush.
I want to see a wild rabbit too!!!
We were frolicking, running around and splashing through the mud in the woods to look for a rabbit.......
Weird couple........
ルイスからは、イギリス特有の白壁が見えます。
グリーンと青い空とのコントラストがきれい。
You can see the white cliff from Lewes.
The contrast of the green, the blue sky, and the white cliff is very beautiful.
実はホリデー中に、セブンシスターズへ白亜の壁を見に行く予定でした。
天気がよくなかったので断念したのですが、思わぬところで見れてうれしくなりました。
今度は早く行って、早くショッピングを終わらせて、このあたりでピクニックもいいなあ。
Actually, we wanted to go to Seven Sisters to see the white cliff in our holiday.
But the weather wasn't good, so we gave up.
But we could see the white cliff in Lewes in the end. I was happy.
It should be good to have a picnic around there next time.........
