最近お気に入りのイタリアンレストランがまた増えました!

I found another good Italian restaurant!

ポートベロー・ガーデン・アーケード。
ポートベローには、アンティークのブースが入ったアーケードがいくつもありますが、
ここもそのうちの一つで、チューブが走るブリッジのすぐ近く。
ここにもヴィンテージショップのブースがいくつかあるのですが…

It's in Portobello Garden Arcade, one of the arcades which has lots of antique stalls in Portobello Road.
This Portobello Garden Arcade is near Tube bridge.
They also have vintage stalls and......

その奥にはイタリアンカフェが。
こじんまりしているのですが、コンサヴァトリーになっていて、たっぷり入る光で開放的な雰囲気。

There is an Italian restaurant in the back.
It's cosy, but it's a conservatory so the sunshine from the roof makes the place look larger.

カラフルな色使いもステキで、フレンドリーなイタリアンの店員さんや、
(外は曇りだとしても)明るい日光で、シチリアの市場近くのレストランを思い出します。

The cafe is full of colours.
Those colours, friendly Italian staff and the sunshine reminded me a restaurant near the market in Sicily.

実は、ここはキッチンで焼いているフレッシュなパンを使ったブルスケッタやサンドイッチが売りだったみたいなのですが…
久しぶりのイタリアンで私たち二人の頭はすっかりパスタモードに。
相方は、イタリアンと来れば鉄板メニューのラザニア。
私はカネロニを、と思ったのですが、人気メニューみたいですでに売り切れ。
かわりに店員さんが勧めてくれたトリュフと4つのチーズのパスタに。
トリュフこんなに食べたのはじめてかも!　(笑）
4つのチーズもおいしいし、トマトソースもシンプルそうなのに、おいしい。
パスタもたぶん、生パスタ。
出てきたときは、「足りるかな…」と思ったのですが、パスタの歯ごたえか!?　結構おなかいっぱいに!
相方が頼んだラザニアも、もちろんはずれなし。

This cafe's feature is bruschetta and sandwiches using their own bread freshly baked in their kitchen.
But we were already in the mood for pasta.
My partner took lasagne, as usual in Italian restaurant.
I wanted cannelloni, but it was already sold out.  Apparently it was very popular there.
I took truffle and 4 cheese pasta instead as a staff recommended me.
I think I had never had truffle as much as this time! lol
4 cheese was full-flavoured and the tomato sauce, looked simple but it was very tasty!
I guess the pasta was fresh.
Although I thought "maybe it's not enough for me" when I saw the dish, but it filled my stomach!
My partner's lasagne was delicious too.

おなかはいっぱいだったけれど、これだけおいしいところのイタリアンなんだから、
デザートもきっとおいしい!　と、好奇心を押さえきれず、調子に乗ってデザートも頼んじゃう。
ティラミスと迷ったけれど、これまた店員さんのおすすめのオレンジとチョコレートのケーキ、バニラアイス添えに。
この組み合わせでおいしくないわけないでしょ。
ケーキは、さすがベイキングが中心のカフェのケーキだけあって、とってもおいしい!
素朴なケーキですが、オレンジのスポンジ部分はしっとり、外側のチョコケーキの部分はかりっとちょっとクリスピーなのが私好み。
ブルスケッタなどの軽食が中心とはいえ、日替わりメニューで肉や魚などのメイン料理もいただけます。
うれしいのは、お値段もリーズナブルということ。
ブルスケッタやラザニアなどの軽食メニューなら6~9ポンド!　
あんまりサンドイッチとかは好きじゃないんですが、ここのブルスケッタ、トマトやモッツァレラ、バジルなどものすごく新鮮でたっぷり、おいしそうだった!
物価が高いロンドン、中心地でおいしくて(ここ重要）リーズナブルなお店を探すのは至難の業です。
いいところ見つけた!　また行かなくちゃ!

We were quite full, but we were so curious to find out their dessert.
We took Orange and Chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, as the staff recommended to us.
Orange, chocolate, vanilla, it's perfect combination!
The cake is simple, but it was delicious.
The orange sponge is very soft and moist, but the chocolate outer part was crispy, which I loved.
The cafe's main menu is bruschetta and sandwiches, but they also have meet and fish in their daily special menu.
Their price is also reasonable, that made me even happier!
Bruschetta and lasagne were 6-9 pounds!
Their bruschetta was with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and basil, looked very yummy!
I must go back there again!

最近お気に入りのイタリアンレストランがまた増えました!

I found another good Italian restaurant!

ポートベロー・ガーデン・アーケード。

cafe* Hidamari @ Kyoto (ひだまり｜カフェ｜京都・北野）

I really recommend this cafe if you go to Tenjin Antique Market which I wrote about before.

前回ご紹介した天神骨董市と一緒にぜひ訪れて欲しいのがこちらのカフェ。

This cafe is a few minutes away from Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.
It's in an antique house called Machiya.

北野天満宮から歩いて数分のところにある、町屋を利用したカフェです。

Chic and retro.
You can enjoy the very traditional house of Japan.

シックでレトロな純日本な、懐かしいたたずまい。

But, you see, you can find Japanese cuteness everywhere.

でも所々にキュートな日本も見えます。

 I just noticed I had the clock when I was little.  How nostalgic.

今気づいたけど、この時計、小さい頃に家にあったなあ。
懐かしい。

They have a lovely patio.  A traditional Japanese garden.

ステキな中庭もあります。



The cafe's interior was very nice, but their food was also fantastic.

インテリアもステキですが、ここは本当に食事がおいしいんです!

The popular lunch menu is Japanese Curry.
Curry has been adapted since it was brought by British people, so we have Japanese curry.
But their Japanese Curry has more taste of Japan.
When you put it into your mouth, you definitely taste the traditional Japanese taste.
It comes with lots of dried bonito and curry has strong Japanese dashi taste.
Rice is mixed with other cereals.

人気メニューの和風カレー。
カレーは日本でも独特の発展を遂げて、日本ならではのカレーの味がありますが、
こちらは本当に、口に入れた瞬間、和風!な味が広がります。
鰹節をたっぷりのせて、カレーにも和風だしがしっかりきいています。
ご飯も雑穀米。

The stew was also delicious.
Pumpkin cream stew with a slight Japanese dashi taste.
It makes you warm.

こちらもとってもおいしかった!
かぼちゃのクリームシチュー。こちらもほんのり和風テイスト。
ほっこりします。

I had Honey Castella (sponge cake) for dessert with Houji-cha au lait.
Houji-cha is Japanese green tea (the colour is brown though).
Both of them have mild and gentle taste.

デザートには、はちみつカステラ。ほうじ茶オレと一緒に。
どちらもとってもやさしい味。

 It's absolutely lovely cafe which you can feel the traditional Japan.
And also very reasonable.  (Curry is only 500 yen!)
However, there is only 1 lady working there.
So. be patient, if it's busy!

京都らしいステキなカフェです。
でも、スタッフの方は一人なので、混んでいてもどうか辛抱強く待ってくださいね!

I really recommend this cafe if you go to Tenjin Antique Market which I wrote about before.

前回ご紹介した天神骨董市と一緒にぜひ訪れて欲しいのがこちらのカフェ。

This cafe is a few minutes away from Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.
It's in an antique house called Machiya.

北野天満宮から歩いて数分のところにある、町屋を利用したカフェです。

Chic and retro.
You can enjoy the very traditional house of Japan.

シックでレトロな純日本な、懐かしいたたずまい。

Osterley Park & House (オスタリーハウス｜マナーハウス｜ロンドン）

先週末はロンドン・オープン・ハウスでした!
ロンドンオープンハウスとは、ロンドン中の有名建築に無料では入れるイベントです。
市庁舎や、オフィスであるガーキン、王立裁判所など、普段は一般の人が入りにくいところも公開されますし、
建築が有名な個人宅にも入れます。
毎年私の誕生日とかぶるので、なかなかいく機会がなかったのですが、
去年、今年とやっと行く機会がありました。
今年こそはセント・パンクラスのあの有名ホテルに!　と思ってたのですが、
なんと8月の時点で予約がいっぱいになっていたみたい。
(フリーですが、建物によってツアーのみ、ツアー参加にも整理券が必要なところもあります。）
なので今年も近場へ行くことに。

It was London Open House last weekend.
London Open House is the big event in whole London, which you can explore most of famous buildings in London for free.
The buildings you can go in this event are included The Snail London town hall, The Gherkin, Royal Courts of Justice, and so on, which the general public can't enter usually.
Also, private properties by famous architects are also opened in this event.
This event is always in the same weekend as my birthday so I was often away that time.
Since last year, I finally had a chance to go to this event.
I wanted to go to St Pancras Renaissance Hotel this year, but it was already fully booked in August.
(The event is free, but some buildings are only allowed to see in tour, and some of them need to be booked.)
We gave up and decided to go somewhere near our flat.

今年選んだのは、家から徒歩とバスで20分くらいのオスタリーハウス。
ナショナルトラストに管理されています。
イギリスでは有名な建築家の、ロバート・アダムの建築。
彼のほかの建築では、ケンウッドハウスやサイオンハウス、バースにある有名なパルトニー・ブリッジなどがあります。

We chose Osterley Park and House, which is only 20 minutes away from our flat.
National Trust manages this house now.
The house was remodeled by Robert Adam, the famous architect in UK.
He also designed Kenwood House, Syon House, Pulteney Bridge in Bath, and so on.

広い敷地内はとてものどか。
牧場が広がっていたり、ハウス前には湖、広いグリーンに、子供用のアスレチックも。
建物内とバックガーデン以外は無料なので、ピクニックにも良さそう。

The park is very peaceful.
There is a lake, large farm, green, and play area for kids.
It's free except the house and the back garden. 

エリザベス一世の時代から(ファミリーは違えど)銀行家の家でした。
このエントランスホールは、ITVのミス・マープル「バートラムホテルにて」にも出てきます。
(ラストの謎解きの場面のホールです。）
ITVのマープルはお気に入りで、数々のマナーハウスやステキな場所が出ているので、いろいろ撮影場所をチェックしていましたが、
ここは今ブログを書いてる時点で知りました。

It used to be a banker's house.
This entrance hall was on ITV's Marple "At the Bertram Hotel". 

マカロンカラーがラブリーな天井。
 近場なのでこんなにゴージャスだとは思ってなかったので、意外に見ごたえがありました。

Lovely macaroon colours.
I didn't expect that there was such a gorgeous house near our flat!

ゴージャスな部屋もいいけど、素朴なキッチンも好き。
ヴィンテージの小物を置いてるところがまたツボ。

I love gorgeous rooms, but love this simple kitchen too.
Love the vintage items!!

階段のホールにあるのは、パトラッシュの飼い主もあこがれたルーベンス。のレプリカ。
本物は戦争中に焼けてしまったそうです…。

There is a Rubens' paintings on the sailing of the staircase.
It's a replica though. 
The original was burnt during the war.

ハウスの裏には広大なガーデンが広がっています。

There is a lovely huge garden in the back of the house.

中にはいろんな種類のお花が咲き乱れたフラワーガーデンも。
整えられたイングリッシュガーデンというよりは、花を育ててるだけの花畑という感じですが。
ハウスにはいたるところにカラフルな花が飾られているのですが、このお庭から取れたお花だそう。
私も欲しい!　敷地内にあるファームハウスで売っているかも。

They have lovely flower gardens.
There is many kinds and colours of flowers.
You can see lovely flowers in the house and those are from this garden.
You might find those in the farm shop in the site.

寒くなってきたロンドンですが、この日はとても暖かい日だったので、デッキチェアでしばし日向ぼっこ。
ステキな昼下がりでした。

It's getting chilly in London, but it was very warm day when we went there.
We did sunbathing on deckchairs.
Lovely afternoon.

家の近くにこんなステキな場所があったとは！
敷地内のファームショップでは新鮮なお野菜も買えます。
今度はピクニックに来よう!

I didn't know that there was such lovely place near our home!
They have a farm shop and you can buy fresh vegetables.
I will come back for a picnic! :)

Festival d'Avignon ~ アヴィニョンの演劇祭

Lovely Summer Vacance in Provence ~ 南仏プロヴァンスでの夏休み　Jul 2015  vol.10

アヴィニョンについた日はちょうど演劇祭が始まる日でした!
お祭りはアルルの衣装祭だけが目的で、
演劇は大好きだけれど、どうせフランス語もわからないし、ということでアヴィニョンの演劇祭はスルーする予定でした。
でもアヴィニョンはもう、お祭り騒ぎ!

It was the first day of Festival d'Avignon when we arrived in Avignon.
I didn't intend to see this festival in Avignon although I love theatrical art.
I don't understand French and we had a tight schedule.
But the whole town of Avignon was already pumped up.

とにかく町中がポスターで埋め尽くされています。
最初はせっかくの景観が台無し、と思ったんですが、これはこれで楽しい!

The whole town was covered with posters of performances.
I thought that they spoiled the beautiful view of the historical town, but then, I had a second thought, it's fun!

お祭り初日ということで、皆自分の演目の宣伝に余念がありません。
いたるところでプロダクションの人たちが練り歩いたり、宣伝パフォーマンスしたり。
こちらはタップダンスの舞台の宣伝。

They were promoting their productions everywhere.
Short performances, marching, handing out leaflets....
This is the promoting performance of tap dancing.

チラシをもってプロダクションの人たちが町を練り歩きます。
というのも、あまりの舞台の数の多さで、演目を把握するのすら大変!
アヴィニョンが招聘するプロダクション（「イン」と呼ばれます）は40ほどですが、
自由参加の団体（「オフ」と呼ばれます）はなんと1000以上にも上ります。
「オフ」の団体は宣伝が自由なので、こうして町を練り歩いたりポスターをべたべた貼ったりして宣伝にいそしむわけです。

People were marching with handing out leaflets.
Because it is too many productions to recognize in the festival.
IN productions, who were invited from the festival, were almost 40 groups.
however, OFF productions, who joined festival voluntarily, were more than 1000 groups!
OFF productions were allowed to advertise their performances freely, so they marches and put posters everywhere.

テラス席で食事している人たちにショート・パフォーマンスも。
こちらはクラシカル音楽とジャズミュージックの違いのレクチャー。
日本語では演劇祭という名前ですが、ライブ・パフォーマンスのお祭りなので、
演劇からミュージカル、オペラ、ダンス、音楽、大道芸など、幅広いジャンルです。

 They give a short performance to people who are in outdoor seats at restaurants.
This was a lecture of the difference between classical music and jazz music.
This festival is not only for plays, it's included opera, dance, music, any kinds of live performances.

初日のこの日は、「オフ」の人たちがパレードで宣伝していました。

When we arrived in Avignon, the first day of the festival, there was a parade by OFF productions.

奇抜な衣装やセットで、いったいどんな内容なんだろう?と想像するのも楽しい!

They were all in a funny costumes and sets.
It was a fun to imagine what kinds of performances they do!

こちらのおじ様たちはステキな音楽を披露してくれました。

These gentlemen were playing really great music!

日本からは沖縄民謡のグループが参加!
思わず声をかけてしまいました。

Okinawan folk song groups joined from Japan!
I was so proud of them!

ポスターで気になった舞台たち。
レオ・レオ二の有名絵本、「あおくんときいろちゃん」が舞台に!
いったいあの話をどうやって舞台化するのかすごく気になる!　(どこかでやってた気もするけど）
男性のトゥシューズバレエはすごく好きなので、気になる作品。
アリスもアリス好きとしてはやっぱり気になる。
ポスターから見てなかなか見ないテイストのアリスになっていそう。

These were the productions I got interested from the posters.
The famous children book "Little Blue and Little Yellow" became a theatre play!
I am very interested how they put it into the stage! (although I wonder there was one already)
I love men in point shoes.
I couldn't help picking Alice as I love Alice in Wonderland.
This production may be different from the others!

Lovely Summer Vacance in Provence ~ 南仏プロヴァンスでの夏休み　Jul 2015  vol.10

アヴィニョンについた日はちょうど演劇祭が始まる日でした!
お祭りはアルルの衣装祭だけが目的で、
演劇は大好きだけれど、どうせフランス語もわからないし、ということでアヴィニョンの演劇祭はスルーする予定でした。
でもアヴィニョンはもう、お祭り騒ぎ!

It was the first day of Festival d'Avignon when we arrived in Avignon.
I didn't intend to see this festival in Avignon although I love theatrical art.
I don't understand French and we had a tight schedule.
But the whole town of Avignon was already pumped up.

とにかく町中がポスターで埋め尽くされています。
