先日、久々に用があったのでポートベローへ。
ポートベローのマーケットは金曜と土曜で、メインは土曜ですが、私は断然、金曜派。

I went to Portbello Market.
Portbello Market usually opens on Friday and Saturday, and Saturday market is bigger.
However, I prefer Friday market.

土曜日はすっかり観光地化してしまっていて、
ハイシーズンの天気のいい土曜日は本当に人でいっぱいで、歩けないほど！
その点、金曜日はもっと気楽にぶらぶらできるほど人は少ないし、
アンティーク狙いの人も金曜日に来るので、ディーラーさんもそういう人を狙って金曜しか出していない人もいます。

Saturday market is too touristic.
When it is very sunny in high season, there are too many people to walk through!
However, Friday market is quieter and some dealers come only for Friday so I prefer Friday market to Saturday market.

でも私が買い物するすれば、アンティークマーケットを通り抜け、さらにその先のフードマーケットも通り抜けた高架下にある…

ポートベロー・グリーン・マーケット!

土曜日もやっていますが、金曜日しか出していないディーラーさんもいたりして、金曜日のほうが古着が充実しています。

昔から、質がよくてセンスのよい古着が多くて大好きなマーケット。

It opens on Saturday as well, but I recommend Friday market if you are looking for vintage clothes.
You always find amazing great vintages there.

私の大好きなVan der Britさんも、最近はこちらに出店。
私はこの人のジュエリーのセレクトが大好きで、必ずチェック。
残念ながら、今はジュエリーから服にシフトチェンジしているようなのですが、
もちろんまだジュエリーやアクセサリーも扱っていらっしゃるし、
服のセレクトも素敵です。

My favourite dealer Van der Brit has a stall there as well.
I love her selection, I always check her stall.
Recently she collects clothes rather than jewellery, but her selection is always great.

私が気になったのは、このヴィクトリアンのレース!
ゴージャスで美しい!　
私はこういうのをデニムや黒のジャンプスーツなんかにあわせてみたい。

I loved her Victorian lace. How gorgeous!!
I would wear it with denim or black jumpsuits.....

ちょうどこの日、ポートベローグリーンに出していたステキなお店を発見。
エスニックなヴィンテージ服にネオンカラーの糸やビーズでカスタマイズしてよりオリジナリティを出している、Glitterattiさん。
私はこういうトライバルなものが大好きで、しかもネオンカラーも大好き。
他にもスウェットなどの今のアイテムにトライバルな刺繍を施したものなど、ステキなアイテムがたくさんで目移りしてしまいました。

I found a fabulous stall there that day.
The Glitteratti, ethnic vintage clothes with original twist.
I loved this kind of tribal clothes and neon colours.
She also had sweat clothes with tribal embroidery.

このゴージャスなスカートはThe Glitterattiさんのインスピレーションになった、東欧のヴィンテージ。
５０年代ですでにこのセンス!　脱帽です。

This gorgeous skirt was their inspiration. 50s skirt from Eastern Europe.
Amazing!!

掘り出し物を見つけたい人は、このポートベローグリーンを抜けた先のGolbourne Roadに続く道もぜひチェックしてみて。
ポートベロー前半のお高いアンティークとうってかわって、ガラクタ蚤の市が並びます。
Glitterattiさんは普段はこの先のGolbourne Roadの交差点近くにいらっしゃいます。

If you want to go for treasure hunting, you should go further on Portbello Road to Golbourne Road.
There are more stalls of junks.
The Glitteratti is usually in that area.

この日の私の収穫。
The Glitterattiさんでこのドレスに一目ぼれ。
ずーっと探していたヴィンテージの真っ白なコットンレースのドレス。
それにネオンカラーでカスタマイズされたとあっては、買わずにはいられない!!
そのドレスに合うかのような夏らしいリネンのバッグ。たぶん５０年代?
これはThe Mad Vintageでお求めになれます!

My finds in Portbello Green Market.
I fell in love with this dress from The Glitteratti.
I had been looking for this kind of vintage cotton lace dress.
And even had a twist with neon colour!! I had to buy it!!
Also found a summery linen bag, probably 50s.
Perfect for my new dress, but this is for The Mad Vintage :)

今月から、Cheer up! Englishという英語学習者のためのウェブサイトで毎月ワールドリポートを書くことになりました。

I started writing monthly column in a Japanese website.

ワールドリポートは、英語学習のための読み物というよりは、英語圏の国についてのあれこれを書いていきます。
他にもアメリカをはじめ、カナダやマルタ島などなど、英語圏のいろんな国の様子がわかっておもしろい!
ロンドンからも私だけでなくいろいろ参加している方がいるようです。

結構、美術館が無料って知らない人が多いんですよね。

またまたバースへやってきました。(またまたって行ったけど、この前のは一年も前だったわ～)

We went to Bath.

フランスから友人が来ていて、ロンドンにも住んだことのある彼だったので、
じゃあ、行ったことないところでお出かけ気分が味わえるところにしようということで、バース。
コッツウォルズのような蜂蜜色の石でできた古い市街は、何度きてもやっぱりステキです。

We had a guest from France, who used to live in London.
We wanted to take him somewhere he had never been and good place to go out, so it was Bath.
The old town of Bath is made of the honey coloured limestones like Cotswolds, which is beautiful.

相方さんは前回来たとき、スパがメインだったらしく、
あんまり、というかまったく観光をしてなかったみたいで、
「こんなにいい街だったんだねー!」ととても楽しんでいたみたい。

My partner came to Bath for spa only last time, he had never walked around the town.
He really enjoyed walking in the town this time.

心配していたお天気は、午後からとても晴れて気持ちよく、川べりをお散歩。

We were worried about the weather, but it became sunny from the afternoon.
We walked along the river.

二人とも(もちろん友人も）すっかりバースが気に入って、将来はこの町に住みたいね～なんて話も。
（てか、行く先々で同じこと言ってるけれど。笑）

All of us totally loved Bath, we were talking that we want to live in the town in future.
(Anyway, we always say that wherever we visited....)

バースアビーではちょっとしたアートの展示がありました。
緻密な模様のディテイルがすごい。
久しぶりに絵を描きたくなりました。

We saw an exhibition in Bath Abbey.
It was so beautiful. Specially, the details of drawings were amazing.
I feel like that I want to draw.

地方に来たら欠かせないのが、やっぱりティールーム。
いまどきのカフェも気になったけれど、今回はやっぱりフランスからのお客様がいたので、
トラディショナルなところで。
ロンドンに来たことはあるけれど、クリームティーは初めてだった友人。
スコーン、お気に召したようです。

We always go to traditional tea rooms when we visit somewhere.
We love modern cafes, but we had to visit a traditional one for our guest who never had a cream tea.
He loved scones, I was glad!

私はというと、ちゃっかりヴィンテージフェアがあることも確認済みだったのだけれど、
月末と月初の日曜にあるフェアに第３日曜も加わり、
じゃあ、第３日曜が連続する続きでは一番初めだからいいかも？と思った私の読みは見事にはずれ。
ディーラーさんに聞いたらやっぱり、月末の日曜が一番大きいらしいです。
今度こそは。
でも、とってもステキなガーデンフラワーを売ってる人がいました。
朝一で来てたので、(荷物になるから）夕方にまた戻ってくるから、といって再び夕方に戻ってくると、
最後の２束だったらしく、全部で５ポンドに負けてくれた!
ロンドンではなかなか見かけない花束です。(ここにはあるけれど、こんなミックスでこの値段はない…）
相方がちょうど今週誕生日なので、スペシャルウィークにふさわしい!
狙っていたパブランチは父の日で満員で入れなかったので、また近いうちに月末の日曜に戻ってこなくちゃ!

Of course, I checked about the vintage market in Bath that day.
Now they have vintage market in the 3rd, the last and the first Sunday of a month.
I thought 3rd Sunday was the first in a row, so it might be busy..... but I was wrong......
One of the dealers told me that the last Sunday of the month is the best.
I must come back again!
I found someone who was selling beautiful flowers in the market.
I had to buy them since I can't find anything like this in this price in London, also this week is my partner's birthday.
We also wanted to go to a pub for lunch, but we couldn't as it was fully booked for the Father's day.
We must go back to Bath very soon!

またまたバースへやってきました。(またまたって行ったけど、この前のは一年も前だったわ～)

We went to Bath.

いよいよ明日に迫りました、Freshly Picked London Fair。
今回は珍しく、日本のお店用に買いつけたサマーコレクションを中心にもって行きます。
私が日本のお店用のジュエリーをロンドンのマーケットにもって行くことはまずないので、
ロンドンにお住まいの方にはとっても貴重な機会です!
ぜひお見逃しなく～!
というわけで、今回は、その会場から程近いノッティングヒルのエリアにあるカフェをご紹介。

Finally, Freshly Picked London Fair is tomorrow!
I will bring my jewellery of Summer collection for stores in Japan and some vintage chinas.
I don't usually sell jewellery for Japan in markets in London, so it is a quite rare chance to see them in London.
Please don't miss it and look forward to seeing you there!
So, I will write about a cafe near the fair in Notting Hill today!

ポートベローマーケットをずっと抜けて、ポートベローとゴルボーンロードの交差点の近くにあるこのお店。
この界隈のローカルの人たちにとても人気です。

The cafe is near the crossing of Portbello Road and Golbourne Road.
It's very popular among the locals.

カフェ自体は小さいですが、とてもアットホームな雰囲気で居心地がいいです。

The cafe is cosy, but very welcoming atmosphere.
You can feel like being home immediately.

お店の人気はなんといっても、朝食・ブランチメニュー。
特にパンケーキが大人気。
私たちはランチに行ったのですが、皆パンケーキを頼んでいて、ものすごーくそそられましたが、
ランチだったので甘いものは我慢我慢…。
私はアボカド・トースト。
ポーチドエッグがそえてあって、とろける黄身と一緒に食べるとおいしい!
相方はマフィンにこれまたポーチドエッグと、自家製マヨソース。
アボカドものっていて、これまたとってもおいしい！

They have really nice breakfast & brunch menu.
Specially, their pancake looked very yummy.
We went there for lunch, but everyone else were having pancakes and seemed very delicious....
But we managed to hold ourselves...
I took avocado on toast with poached egg.
Avocado toast was even nicer with melting egg yolk!
My partner took maffin with poached egg with mayo sauce!
That was very good too!

ここはコーヒーがおいしいということで見つけたお店だったので、コーヒーも注文。
こちらはモンマスコーヒーを使っています。
本当はデザートにでもパンケーキを…と思ったのだけれど、おなかいっぱいで断念。
ぜひぜひパンケーキを食べにいきたい!
皆様も明日のフェアの前に、あとに、ぜひ行ってみてください!

We found this cafe because I heard that their coffee is excellent, so we ordered cafe latte.
They use beans from Monmouth Coffee.
We really thought we might want to have a pancake for dessert, but we were very full....
We must go back there to have their pancake!!
Please go there before or after Freshly Picked London fair tomorrow!

お久しぶりのファッションスナップ。
おしゃれな人はよく見かけるのですが、カメラを持ってなかったり相手が忙しそうだったり、
なかなか声をかけるタイミングがなくて。
見てる人がいるかわかりませんが、自己満足で続けていきます。
そんな自己満足サイトに協力してくれる被写体の皆様、ありがとうございます。(笑）

ショート丈のトップスとバギーなデニムのバランスが絶妙。
アクセントのオレンジニットキャップもかわいい!

It's been a while since I put a fashion snap in my blog!
I often see fashionable people but I missed timings everytime, as I didn't have my camera and they seemed busy....
I wonder who is looking forward to my fashion snap, but I will continue for my pleasure.

今日ご紹介するのは、ショーディッチにあるカフェ、ペーパー＆カップ。

Cafe time! Today's cafe is Paper & Cup in Shoreditch.

ショーディッチの中心地、ショーディッチハイストリートにもレッドチャーチストリートにもすぐにいける距離だけれど、
この二つのメインストリートからちょっと外れて、目の前が教会なだけに
とっても静かで落ち着けるカフェなのです。

The cafe is just off from Shoreditch High Street and Red Church Street.
Both of them were main streets, but the cafe is in the very quiet and calm area
as the cafe is off from both streets and there is a church in front of the cafe.

こじんまりとしたカフェの壁一面に並ぶのは、本。
そう、お店の名前どおり、ここは古本とコーヒーのお店なのです。
本のジャンルはいろいろですが、お店によってちゃんとセレクトされています。

One of the wall in the cafe was covered with many books!
Yes, as it is Paper & Cup, this is the shop of books and coffee.
There were any kinds of books, but they were carefully selected by the cafe.

お店にはアーティストの作品もかかっています。

There were also artists' items.

奥の小部屋の飾り棚には、シンプルな、だけどどこかアクセントのあるアンティーク、ヴィンテージの雑貨も。

In the small room in the back, there were also vintage and antiques on the shelf.

この日はニューメニューのヴァニラ・ハニー・チャイラテと、グルテンフリーのシナモンバン。
シナモンロールに弱いので、迷いなく頼んじゃったんだけれど、
グルテンフリーだけにぱさぱさ感が否めないのは残念…。
次回は別のケーキも試さなくては!

I ordered the new menu, Vanilla Honey Chai Latte and a gluten free cinnamon bun.
I love cinnamon roll so I couldn't help taking it, but it was gluten free, so it was a bit dry.....
I must try other cakes!
