Thames Walk~Kew Bridge - Gunnersbury

先週は職場のプレッシャーがすごくてお疲れモード。

それに加えて土曜日に定期入れをなくしてしまって、心身ともに疲れてしまった。

 そんなときに、近所に住む仲良し夫婦からお散歩のお誘い。

近所のキューブリッジあたりをお散歩しようということになりました。


I was so stressed and tired at work last week.
In addition, I've lost my card holder with my bank card and oyster card......
My mind and body were both exhausted.
On Sunday, my best friend neighbours asked us out for a walk.
We went to Kew Bridge which is near our flat.

キューブリッジ。

いつもバスでその先のリッチモンドへ行っちゃうので、この辺を歩くのは実は初めて。

川沿いは歩道があって、グリーンもあり、テーブル付きのベンチもあって、ピクニックにも良さそう。

私たちはグリーンにシートを広げて、そこでピクニック。

風がかなり強かったですが...

We had never walked around there as we always take by bus to cross Kew Bridge to go to Richmond.
By the river, there is a path and green with benches and tables.
It should be nice to have a picnic there.
We had a picnic on the green with our picnic sheet.
It was very windy though.....

ピクニックの後、またお散歩。

連日の暑さですっかりテムズ川も干上がっていました。


We walked again after the picnic.
The River Thames ran dry because of the hot weather last week.

川沿いにはステキなおうちが並んで。

いいな~、窓の外にはテムズ川って。


There were so many cute houses by the river.
It must be a great view from the window......

窓と同じくらいのちっちゃいドア!

なんてかわいい！...なんて思ってたら、
冬場にはこのドアの高さまで川が増水するときがあるからだそう。

風も強くなるだろうし、う～ん、やっぱり川沿いに住むって大変そう...


How small this door is!  It's so cute......
But this door is so small because the river sometimes rise up to the hight of the window in Winter....
It will be very windy too.
Mmmmm, it might be very hard to live by the river.....

川沿いのパブではビートルズのコピーバンドがライブをやっていました。

全盛期にヤングだったと思われるおば様たちがノリノリ。

川沿いのパブって大好き、川の流れが見えるし、気持ちがいいし。
(ただし夏に限る。）

古そうで内装もステキだったので、また友達とここへ来よう!

せっかくイギリスにいるからには、私もご近所の行き着けパブを見つけたいな。


There was a nice pub and they had a gig of Beatles-ish band.
Everyone was charged up.
I love the pub by the water.  (only when it's Summer.)
The pub looked very nice.  I'd love to come back there.
I'd love to find my local pub as I'm living in UK...

TubeのDistrict Lineが走っているこの鉄橋で引き返しました。

左がGunnersbury,　右がKewの駅。


We turned back at this bridge which District line runs.
The left side is Gunnersbury, and the right side is Kew Station.

この仲良し夫婦にはしばらく会ってなかったので、よいキャッチアップになりました。

徒歩圏に家族ぐるみの仲良しがいるって、なんてステキ。


I haven't seen them for a while, so it was a good catch up.
It's so nice to have good friends in a walking distance!!

cafe*Hackney Bureau

ブロードウェイマーケットの近くに新しく（いや、結構前だけど）できたカフェ。

ずっと気になっていたのですが、やっと行くことができました。(それも１ヶ月くらい前だけど。）


There's a new cafe near Broadway Market.  (actually, it's been there for a while already....)
I always wanted to go, then finally I did.  (.....almost a month ago......)

このHackney Bureau,この界隈の若者たちに大人気のカフェで、ブロードウェイマーケットがある土曜日には満員御礼のすごい人気ぶり。
（以前は土曜に行って入れなかった。）
この日は日曜のランチに。それでもブランチを取ってる人たちが多かったです。
珈琲のテイクアウェイにもひっきりなしに人が訪れていて、珈琲もおいしいんだろうな。頼まなかったけど。


Hackney Bureau is very popular among the locals.
It's always full on Saturday, the market day.  (I couldn't go there because it was full on Saturday...)
We went there for Sunday lunch.  There were quite a few people having brunch.
People always come and go to pick up their coffee.
I guess their coffee is excellent!

さて、ランチは、スモークサーモンとほうれん草のオムレツと、牛肉煮込みとポレンタ。
これが、ただのカフェとは思えないほどおいしかった～、特に牛肉!!
ほろほろでとろけるほどにやわらかい。
ポレンタはケーキ以外で初めて食べたけど、そうか、こういう感じなのね。
もっとクスクスっぽい感じなのかと思ったら、半熟のオムレツみたいな感じ。
これがまたほろほろお肉とよく合うのですよ…。
どうやら週末(木曜ー土曜）の夜はレストランもやってるそうで。
食事メインもOKならば、納得のお味。
しかしこの味でランチメニューの安さは最近のロンドンではそうそうお目にかかれない!!
最近の私の一押しカフェ。
今度はケーキも食べに来なきゃ!


We had a smoked salmon and spinach omelet, and braised beef and polenta.
They were amazingly good!!!!  I can't believe that it was cafe food. 
Specially the beef.  It was melting on my tongue.
I had never had polenta except polenta cake.
It was like a half-cooked omelet and suited with the beef.....
They open as a restaurant on weekend evenings.  (Thu-Sat)
That convinced me that they have good food....
But I think this lunch for this value is the best in London.
One of my favourite cafes now!
I must go back to have a cake :)

ブロードウェイマーケットの近くに新しく（いや、結構前だけど）できたカフェ。

ずっと気になっていたのですが、やっと行くことができました。(それも１ヶ月くらい前だけど。）


There's a new cafe near Broadway Market.  (actually, it's been there for a while already....)
I always wanted to go, then finally I did.  (.....almost a month ago......)

このHackney Bureau,この界隈の若者たちに大人気のカフェで、ブロードウェイマーケットがある土曜日には満員御礼のすごい人気ぶり。
（以前は土曜に行って入れなかった。）
この日は日曜のランチに。それでもブランチを取ってる人たちが多かったです。
珈琲のテイクアウェイにもひっきりなしに人が訪れていて、珈琲もおいしいんだろうな。頼まなかったけど。


Hackney Bureau is very popular among the locals.

Kastellet and Mermaid~カステレット要塞と人魚の像

 Märchen Copenhagen     June 2013      part.4

 リューンビューの蚤の市からの帰り道、Osterportで降りて、そのままカステレット要塞でランチピクニック。

After the flea market in Lyngby, we got off the train at Osterport and went to Kastellet park for a lunch picnic.

カステレット要塞があったところは、現在緑が美しい公園になっています。

Kastellet used to be a star fort, it's a beautiful green park now.

中央の星型の島部分には風車が。

よくわからないけど、この島内は兵隊さんの宿舎らしい。

建物は確かにあったし、砲台なんかもあるけれど、出入りは自由。


There is a windmill in the star-shaped island.
I'm not sure, but the island is for the billets for the army.
But you can go to the island and walk freely.

このカステレット要塞の近くに、かの有名な人魚姫の像が。

もちろん行ってみたわけですが、あまりの観光地化にドン引き。


The famous mermaid statue is near Kastellet.
Of course I went there, but I was disappointed that it was too much touristic.

こんな即席の人魚人形のお店まで。

There was a temporary shop for the little mermaid figure!

とにかく観光客が山のように常にたかっていて、この写真を撮るのが精一杯。

常に人が人魚の像にタッチしていたり隣でピースしていたり...
その写真を撮るのにみんな行列しているわけです。

順番待ちの人の入れ替わりの数秒間の隙のショット。


People always hang around the statue.......
They were queueing to take photos with the mermaid.
To take this photo, I had to wait for 10-15minutes.

こんなに人気の人魚姫。

泡になるどころか、２回も首を切り落とされ、果てには爆破までされたと知って心が痛みました...。

爆破で木っ端微塵になるよりは、まだ泡になるほうがいいよね...


She is so popular, but I heard that her head was chopped twice and her body was even destroyed by exploded!
I'm so sorry for her......
Dissolving into form is much better than exploded!

アンデルセンはこんな子達を見て「みにくいアヒルの子」の話を思いついたのかな。

さて、カステレットの公園を半周したお散歩のあとは、お待ちかねのカフェです!

I wonder that Andersen might have seen cute chicks like them and then written the story of "The Ugly Duckling".
After the walk of the half of Kastellet park, we went to a cafe for a tea break.

 リューンビューの蚤の市からの帰り道、Osterportで降りて、そのままカステレット要塞でランチピクニック。

Still Summer in London

 

土曜日の今年初のBBQはあいにくのお天気で（雨じゃなかったけど）いきなり寒くなったけれど、
日曜日の午後には再び太陽も顔を出し、気温も戻ってきて、ほっ。
ホランドパークでのんびりピクニック。
お昼を食べたら相方は読書、私はコペンハーゲンの旅行記をつづる。（今年の目標、続行中!）

It was a really cool weather last Saturday when we had the first BBQ in this year.
I was relieved it got warmer again in Sunday afternoon.....
We went to Holland Park for a picnic.
After lunch, my partner was reading and I was writing my travel journal of Copenhagen.

ホランドパークを選んだのは、近くにあるバトラーズでガーデンテーブルセットを買うため。
ずっと迷っていたけれど、ちょっと値引きもしてもらえて、わざわざ行って持って帰ってきたかいがあった!
早速リビングの外のデッキスペースにおいて、外で冷たい梅酒とフルーツを頂く。
至福...！
来週末は外で朝ごはん食べたいな。

We went to Holland Park because we wanted to go to Butlers near there to buy a garden table set.
It was worth going there and bringing them back since we had a little discount!
As soon as we went home, we put them on the deck and had a cold plum wine and fruits.
Gorgeous.....!!!
I'd love to have a breakfast outside next weekend.

とてもゆったりした休日だったので、その日は南仏ホリデー風な夕飯。
先日ランチに招待してくれた仏人の友人のレシピを見よう見真似で再現したポテトとラタトゥイユ。
スズキは自分なりにアレンジ。
この日の夕飯はレシピも見ずに全部自分のオリジナルだけれど、結構おいしく出来て大満足。
つい数年前までまったく自炊してなかったとは思えないわあ。
Midnight in Parisの音楽を聴きながら作った南仏風ディナーを、「ローマにアモーレ」を見ながらいただく。
次の日から仕事だけれど、ホリデー気分を楽しめてよかった。

It was a relax day, so I made a dinner like holiday in South France.
I tried to make potato and ratatouille like as our French friend cooked for us one day.
I improvised the recipe of sea bass.
I improvised all the recipes that day, but it went well.
I can't believe that I couldn't cook until a few years ago......
I cooked the Provencal dinner with listening the soundtrack of "Midnight in Paris"
and had it with watching "To Rome with Love".
Even though we had to go to work next day, we felt as if we were on holiday.

土曜日の今年初のBBQはあいにくのお天気で（雨じゃなかったけど）いきなり寒くなったけれど、
日曜日の午後には再び太陽も顔を出し、気温も戻ってきて、ほっ。
ホランドパークでのんびりピクニック。
お昼を食べたら相方は読書、私はコペンハーゲンの旅行記をつづる。（今年の目標、続行中!）

It was a really cool weather last Saturday when we had the first BBQ in this year.
I was relieved it got warmer again in Sunday afternoon.....
We went to Holland Park for a picnic.

Cute shops & a tea room in Rye

ライにはいくつもかわいいいスポットがありますが、その中でも私の一押しをご紹介。

まずはアンティークショップ。


There are lots of cute spots in Rye, but I'll show my favourites today.
The first one is an antique shop.

 アンティークショップは数え切れないくらいあるライですが、
その中でもこのお店のセレクションはぴかいちで、（死語?）
女の子なら何時間も入れること間違いなし。

 かわいいキッチン雑貨や家具が並ぶお店です。


There are so many antique shops in Rye, but this is my favourite.
I love their selection of cute kitchenware, tools, tableware.....and so on.
Girls could stay there for hours!

かわいいエナメル物、花柄や、ミッドセンチュリーなティーカップに、シルバーのカトラリー。

とにかく女の子がキッチンに置きたくなるものばかりがあふれています。


Cute enamels, flowery or mid century's design tea sets, silver cutleries.....
The shop is full of cute stuff which girls want to have for their kitchen!

メインストリートからちょっと離れたライオンストリートに、
とってもかわいい雑貨屋さんを発見。

I found a cute shop in Lion Street which is just off the main street.

 

リサ・スティックリーなどをはじめとする、かわいい雑貨デザイナーのものや、
アクセサリー、食器類など、ポップなものからシンプルでかわいいものがたくさん!
どれも欲しくなってしまって、長いことうろうろしてしまいました...！
 イギリスのインテリア雑貨ではやっているものが多く置いてあるので、
イギリス土産にもいいかもしれません。

 They have cute things by designers like Lisa Stickley, accessories, tableware......
loads of cute and pop stuff!!
I want to have everything, I stayed there for a while...!

さて、町歩きやショッピングに歩きつかれたら、一休み。

ライにはかわいいティールームがいくつかあるけれど、ここが一番有名かも。


When you get tired from walking in the town or shopping, let's take a tea break.
There are many tea rooms in Rye, but I think this is the most popular one.

メインストリートからちょっとそれた小道にあるコブルズ・ティールーム。

ティーポットの看板がかわいくて、女の子ならそれだけで吸い込まれてしまいそう。


The cobbles tea room is just off the main street.
The tea pot sign is so cute that girls must be attracted!


この日は天気がよくて外でランチしたのですが、中はこんな感じ。

It was nice weather so that we were in the garden seats, but the inside looks like this.

この日は夜にロンドンで予定があったので早めに切り上げるため、
ランチとティータイムを一緒に出来る、アフタヌーンティーに。

前回来た時アフタヌーンティーセットを完食出来なかったので、
ランチ一皿とアフタヌーンティーセットを相方さんとシェア。

キッシュと、卵サンドと珈琲＆ウォルナッツケーキのアフタヌーンティーセット。

アフタヌーンティーといっても、こちらのセットはとてもお手軽なお値段なのでうれしい。

真夏日だったので、
デザートを食べる頃にはクロテッドクリームとケーキのバタークリームがべとべとに溶けてしまいましたが...。

やっぱりイギリスの田舎に来たら、こういう田舎風ティータイムは欠かせません!


We had a plan that night in London so that we had a lunch and tea together to save time.
I couldn't finish the afternoon tea set last time, so we shared a quiche and an afternoon tea set.
This afternoon tea set is included sandwiches ( I chose egg), a scone, and a slice of cake (I chose walnut & coffee cake),
but it's an affordable price.
It was so hot that the clotted cream and butter cream of cake was melted by the time we had dessert.
But we can't miss the country style teatime in the English country side!

Cute shops & a tea room in Rye

ライにはいくつもかわいいいスポットがありますが、その中でも私の一押しをご紹介。

まずはアンティークショップ。


There are lots of cute spots in Rye, but I'll show my favourites today.
The first one is an antique shop.

 アンティークショップは数え切れないくらいあるライですが、
その中でもこのお店のセレクションはぴかいちで、（死語?）
女の子なら何時間も入れること間違いなし。

 かわいいキッチン雑貨や家具が並ぶお店です。


There are so many antique shops in Rye, but this is my favourite.
I love their selection of cute kitchenware, tools, tableware.....and so on.
Girls could stay there for hours!

かわいいエナメル物、花柄や、ミッドセンチュリーなティーカップに、シルバーのカトラリー。

とにかく女の子がキッチンに置きたくなるものばかりがあふれています。


Cute enamels, flowery or mid century's design tea sets, silver cutleries.....
The shop is full of cute stuff which girls want to have for their kitchen!

メインストリートからちょっと離れたライオンストリートに、
とってもかわいい雑貨屋さんを発見。

I found a cute shop in Lion Street which is just off the main street.

 

リサ・スティックリーなどをはじめとする、かわいい雑貨デザイナーのものや、
アクセサリー、食器類など、ポップなものからシンプルでかわいいものがたくさん!
どれも欲しくなってしまって、長いことうろうろしてしまいました...！
 イギリスのインテリア雑貨ではやっているものが多く置いてあるので、
イギリス土産にもいいかもしれません。

 They have cute things by designers like Lisa Stickley, accessories, tableware......
loads of cute and pop stuff!!
I want to have everything, I stayed there for a while...!
