Weekend in Brittany ~ ブルターニュでの週末

先週末は相方の実家のあるフランス・ブルターニュへ行って来ました。

We spent last weekend in Brittany where my partner's family is.

今回のフランス行きは、義姉の50歳記念の大誕生パーティーに出席すること。
ビッグなパーティーといっても集まる人数が多いだけなのかと思ったら、
お昼1時ぐらいに始まって、真夜中になってもまだまだ終わる気配がなく…
夜の12時にやっとカウントダウン(日曜が誕生日でパーティーは土曜だった）が始まって、
まさかのそこからが本番、という…。
「イケイケのロンドンから来た」私たちですが、もう若くないんで(笑）
ちょっと早めに退散…。皆は明け方3時半までいたそう。
だらだら長くはあったけど、ちょこちょこゲームをはさんだり、スライドショー＆子供たちの歌があったり。
外の空気を吸いにブルターニュの片田舎をちょっとお散歩したり。
まったりとしたホリデーでした。

This time, we went to France to attend my sister-in-law's 50th big birthday party.
I thought that "big" means just lots of people coming.
But, it was very long too......  started mid day and finished at 3am!
I couldn't stay until the end, but it was fan.
We went for a walk in the beautiful country side in Brittany too.
Lovely chilling out holiday.

フランスの義実家での楽しみはなんといっても動物たちとのふれあい!
義実家の家も義姉の家も犬と猫がいるので、つかの間のペットがいる生活を楽しみました。
(うちにもいるんですけどね…毎日遊びにくる近所の猫が!）

What I really love going to my partner's families' houses is, to stay with their pets.
All of them have at least a dog and a cat,  I really enjoyed the life with pets temporally.
(Although I have a life with a pet in London....  Not my pet, but my neighbor's cat visits us everyday!)

今回のフランス行きは家族行事、ということで割り切っていたんですが、
思いがけず、ヴァンヌの町に行く時間が取れました。
小さな町ですが、古い町並みが残った港町でかわいかったです!
ここでは思いがけず、フランスのかわいいブランドを発見してしまって、狂喜乱舞してしまったよ…　:)
ヴァンヌをはじめ、ブルターニュのかわいい町や村をいくつか訪れていますが、まだブログにはあげていなかったので、これを機に書き始めますね!

I thought we just stay with my partner's family in this trip,
but we actually had a day to go to Vannes, an old town in Brittany.
A little town, but the old town was very cute.
Unexpectedly, I found a very cute French brand shop.......  I totally fell in love with it!
I visited quite a few village and town in Brittany, but haven't written about them in my blog yet.
I will do it very soon!

先週末は相方の実家のあるフランス・ブルターニュへ行って来ました。

We spent last weekend in Brittany where my partner's family is.

今回のフランス行きは、義姉の50歳記念の大誕生パーティーに出席すること。
ビッグなパーティーといっても集まる人数が多いだけなのかと思ったら、
お昼1時ぐらいに始まって、真夜中になってもまだまだ終わる気配がなく…
夜の12時にやっとカウントダウン(日曜が誕生日でパーティーは土曜だった）が始まって、
まさかのそこからが本番、という…。
「イケイケのロンドンから来た」私たちですが、もう若くないんで(笑）
ちょっと早めに退散…。皆は明け方3時半までいたそう。
だらだら長くはあったけど、ちょこちょこゲームをはさんだり、スライドショー＆子供たちの歌があったり。
外の空気を吸いにブルターニュの片田舎をちょっとお散歩したり。
まったりとしたホリデーでした。

10 years in UK ~ イギリス生活10周年を迎えました。

10年前の今日、イギリスの地に降り立ちました。
そのときは1年の語学留学のつもりで、まさかこんなにいるなんて思わなかった…。
10年の間にいろいろありました。

夢だったバレエ教師もちょっと体験できたし、
ウェストエンドのライオンキングのオーディションも受けて一次の最後まで残れたし、
現役キャストに雌ライオンのダンス教えてもらえたし、
運命の相方と出会って、
結婚して、
乳がんになって、
自分のビジネスを始めて。

10 years ago today, I arrived in UK.
I just planned to stay for a year to study English, and look at me now.....
Lots of things happened to me in 10 years.

I started to live abroad, which was my dream.
I made friends from all over the world,
I traveled many countries, and met lots of people.
My first job in UK was in H&M without any Japanese and met lovely colleagues.
I took balled classes in the famous Royal Opera House.
I saw my longing dancers very close and was taught by great teachers.
I had an experience as a ballet teacher which was my dream.
I met my partner.
I got married.
I got a breast cancer.
I started my own business.



こう書くとかなり波乱万丈な感じですが、
本当に波乱万丈だったのは結婚→直後の乳がん発覚の2010，11年くらいで、
あとは私の中では結構ゆっくりな感じでした。
なので、10年という長い年月を考えると、
「え、10年で私の中身の成長って…こんなもんか…？」
と、ちょっと冷や汗たらりなところもありますが、
マイペースなのは、もう私の性分なんだ、と受け入れる覚悟です。

It sounds like my life was full of ups and downs.
But the hardest part was only 2010 & 2011 when I got married and had a cancer just right after the marriage.
The rest of my life was quite slow pace.
So when I come to think about these 10 years,
I am a bit disappointed that I haven't grown so much mentally.......
However, this is me.  I have to accept it.



ちょうどというか偶然というか、日本でだいぶ前に話題になったこんまりさんの「人生がときめく片付けの魔法」に今出会い、(しかもイギリス人の人から聞いた）
ただいま、絶賛片付け祭りの真っ最中。
この10年、確かに根無し草のような生活だったので、
ここですっぱり過去に片をつけて、新しいスタートをきりたいと思います！
ブログも今後とも細々続けていきますので、皆様よろしくお願いします。

As it happens, or it meant to be happened, I got to know Marie Kondo's  "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying".
(She is Japanese famous organizing consultant,  I didn't know her although I am Japanese...)
I am, indeed, in the middle of the life-changing tidying up festival.
I have lived in UK like a rootless.
I will tidy up my life and past and make a new start.
I will continue writing my blog as usual too.  Please visit my blog and take a look, everyone ;)

10年前の今日、イギリスの地に降り立ちました。

cafe* The Quince Tree (ザ・クインス・ツリー｜カフェ｜ロンドン)

リトルヴェニスの近くにあるガーデンセンター、クリフトン・ナーサリーズの中に、
カフェがあります。

このガーデンセンターにあるカフェは前にもブログで紹介したのですが、
おそらく経営者が変わったか何かで、メニューもインテリアも一新。

The Quince Tree.
I have already written about the cafe before in my old blog.
I guess the owner has been changed or something, so the cafe has been changed as well.

一新とはいっても、ナチュラルな雰囲気はそのままに、
家具や食器などがより洗練されてます。
大きなコンサヴァトリー(温室）の中のカフェは、晴れた日のランチやお茶に最適!

The atmosphere is quite same, natural and shabby antque-ish.
Their furniture and tableware are more sophisticated.
The cafe is in a big conservatory, it's a perfect place to have lunch or tea in a sunny day!

この日はかるーいランチ。
本日のスープはクリィーミーでおいしかった!
キヌアのサラダは、私は初めてキヌアを食べたのですが、おいしかった!

We had a light lunch.
The today's soup was very creamy.
My partner had quinoa salad.  It was my first time that I ate quinoa.  It was delicious!

もちろんデザートも。
前回訪れたときはクリームティーが最高、と聞いたので訪れたのですが、
この日はスコーンという気分ではなかったので、あえてケーキをチョイス。
フルーツケーキと、オレンジのチーズケーキ。
どちらもおいしかったです！

Of course we had dessert too.
Last time we came here because we heard that their cream tea was the best.
This time, we didn't feel like to eat scones, so we chose cakes.
Fruit cake and orange cheese cake.
Both were delicious!

今回写真は撮れなかったけど、にゃんこも健在。
リトルヴェニスのお散歩がてらにぜひよってみて。

I couldn't take a photo, but the kitty was still there :)

リトルヴェニスの近くにあるガーデンセンター、クリフトン・ナーサリーズの中に、
カフェがあります。

There is a cafe in a garden centre called Clifton Nurseries near Little Venice.

このガーデンセンターにあるカフェは前にもブログで紹介したのですが、

実はここ、ヴィクトリアン時代に公衆トイレだったところなのです!
白いのはもちろん、男性用トイレの名残。
タンクも残っています。
床のタイルもオリジナルのものなのだとか。

Actually, this cafe used to be a Victorian public toilet!
The white objet-like things, of course, used to be gentlemen toilet.
There is original tanks as well.
The tiles on the floor also are original from Victorian era.

照明や椅子がモダンでシンプルな分、ヴィクトリアンの装飾の入ったユニークなトイレやタンクが活きます。
モダンとアンティークのミックス、まさに私の好みです!

The lighting and chairs are simple and modern, so they made the decorative Victorian toilet and tanks look more unique and attractive.
I love this kind of mixed style of modern and antique!

元、とはいえ、トイレでお茶ってどうなのよ…。と思ったけれど、
このユニークなインテリアにそんなことも忘れてしまいました。
それにとにかくコーヒーがおいしくて、お客はひっきりなしにやってきます。
半分のお客さんはテイクアウェイでわざわざここのコーヒーを買いに来ているみたい。
そのわざわざも納得のおいしさです!
サンドイッチもおいしかった!

First, I thought "do you want a coffee in toilet even though it's not used for decades....?"
But I forgot about it because of this fabulous interior.
And also their coffee was great, customers are coming one after another.
Their sandwich was also good!

ケーキもおいしかったです!
オックスフォードサーカスでお買い物の際にはぜひよってみて。

Their cake was also delicious.

木屋町通りに、半世紀以上人々から愛されてきた喫茶があります。

In Kiyamachi, Kyoto, there is a lovely cafe which is loved by many people for more than half a century.

Cafe Soirée.
It's very famous.  I think all girls that love Kyoto know this cafe.
The cafe is so girly and retro.
There has always been a blue dreamy space since 1948.

喫茶ソワレ。
京都が好きな女の子なら知らない人はいないのではないかというくらい有名な、レトロな乙女カフェです。
昭和23年(1948年）創業以来、変わらずここに、幻想的な青い空間が存在します。

Lovely Western style building, dark wooden furniture with beautiful relief.
There is no BGM.  There is just quiet space and blue light.
It's really like another world.
By the way, apparently blue light makes woman beautiful.

ステキな洋館スタイル、落ち着いた色の木製家具には美しいレリーフ。
BGMもなく、静かな空間に青白い光。
本当に異空間のよう。
ちなみに青い光は女性をきれいに見せてくれるんだそう。

The most popular menu in Soirée is this.
Jelly Punch with colourful jellies.
To be honest, I am sorry to say that, but, it's not really "amazing" taste.
Then, why do I order it?
It's just because it's beautiful!!

ソワレに来たらまず、これ!というメニューがこちら。
カラフルなゼリーが入った、ゼリーポンチ。
申し訳ないのですが、正直に、正直に申しますと、別に「めっちゃおいしい！」ってわけではない！
じゃあなぜこれを頼むのか!?
それはもう、ただ単に、美しいからです!

I just want to see this punch in this cafe!
I want to eat this beautiful Jelly Punch in this blue dreamy space and want to immerse myself in girly mood.
Just, that's it.
Kiyamachi is quite noisy street, but this cafe is so quiet and peaceful.
I prefer to sit idly rather than reading a book.
It's a perfect place to take a rest.

とにかくこの空間で、これが見たい!　
この美しいゼリーポンチを、この青白い幻想空間で食べて、乙女気分に浸りたい!
ただ、ただ、それだけなのです。
外は喧騒あふれる木屋町なのに、本当にこの喫茶店の中は静かで。
私は本を読んだりするよりも、ここでぼんやりしたい。
一息ついて、落ち着くにはパーフェクトな場所です。

A ground floor is a bit brighter than the blue first floor.

ちょっと明るめの一階席。

The owner's retro coffee cup collection.  Lovely!

オーナーのレトロカップコレクションも、ヴィンテージ好きにはたまりません。

The previous owner was a big fan of a Japanese painter, Seiji Togo.
The cafe has original items and uses his illustration for them.
I love his retro style illustration.

先代のオーナーが画家の東郷青児が好きだったということで、
オリジナルグッズには彼の絵が描かれています。
レトロな画風がかわいいです。

His illustration is used for the sign as well.
I definitely recommend this place, specially for girls.

看板にも彼の絵。
京都を旅する女の子にぜひ行って頂きたい所です。

木屋町通りに、半世紀以上人々から愛されてきた喫茶があります。

In Kiyamachi, Kyoto, there is a lovely cafe which is loved by many people for more than half a century.

Cafe Soirée.
It's very famous.  I think all girls that love Kyoto know this cafe.
The cafe is so girly and retro.
There has always been a blue dreamy space since 1948.

喫茶ソワレ。
京都が好きな女の子なら知らない人はいないのではないかというくらい有名な、レトロな乙女カフェです。
昭和23年(1948年）創業以来、変わらずここに、幻想的な青い空間が存在します。

Lovely Western style building, dark wooden furniture with beautiful relief.

私は本を読んだりするよりも、ここでぼんやりしたい。
一息ついて、落ち着くにはパーフェクトな場所です。

The owner's retro coffee cup collection.  Lovely!

オーナーのレトロカップコレクションも、ヴィンテージ好きにはたまりません。

The previous owner was a big fan of a Japanese painter, Seiji Togo.
The cafe has original items and uses his illustration for them.
I love his retro style illustration.

先代のオーナーが画家の東郷青児が好きだったということで、
オリジナルグッズには彼の絵が描かれています。
レトロな画風がかわいいです。

His illustration is used for the sign as well.
I definitely recommend this place, specially for girls.

看板にも彼の絵。
京都を旅する女の子にぜひ行って頂きたい所です。
