ブリストルで、お目当てのカフェにはいけなかったものの、偶然かわいいカフェを見つけました。

Although The cafe I wanted to go was closed when I went to Bristol, we found a nice cafe.

カフェだけはチェックしてたしな～あたりかはずれかわかんないしどうしようかな～
と、二人でお店の前でうだうだしていたら、
外でお茶していた常連さんらしき人が、「このカフェ、いいよ~」といってくれたので、即決定。
最初は小腹を満たす程度にしようかな、と思ったんですが、
すでに正午近かったし、イースターのサンデーローストメニューをしてると聞いてランチに決定。

I want to go another cafe, but I am tired already, I need a break, but the cafe I want to go is far away....
When we were thinking like that in front of this cafe, a person who seemed to be a regular customer said "it's a really nice cafe!"
So we decided.
We thought we just had a little break, but they had a Sunday Roast Menu for Easter.
We decided to have a lunch there.

不揃いのヴィンテージの家具に食器、ケースに並べられたおいしそうなケーキたち…。
うん、確かにいいカフェに違いない。(笑）

Mmm, this must be a good cafe!! lol

ケーキに後ろ髪惹かれつつも、やっぱりランチ優先で。
イースターサンデーはお休みするお店が多い中でわざわざ開いていてローストメニューやってるんだから、さぞかしおいしいに違いない!
ということで、相方さんはべたにローストビーフ。
私は、ロースとメニューはちょっと多そうだと思ったのでバーガーに。
ローストビーフもバーガーもお肉がジューシーでおいしかった!
今度来た時はケーキもトライしたいな。

I was very interested in their cakes but we had to have a lunch first.
My partner had a Roast beef and I chose a beef burger.
Both meat were very juicy and tasty!!
But, I still have to try their cakes!

ブリストルで、お目当てのカフェにはいけなかったものの、偶然かわいいカフェを見つけました。

カフェだけはチェックしてたしな～あたりかはずれかわかんないしどうしようかな～
と、二人でお店の前でうだうだしていたら、

We found a nice cafe restaurant in Tophane.

The interior was based on blue and white, very stylish restaurant.

お店の奥にはたくさんの鳥…モチーフ。

We found many bird in the back of the restaurant!

天窓から入る光に、小鳥のさえずり…。(そう、本物の鳥もいたのです!）
なんだかパティオにいるみたいで気持ちのいいスペース。

Bright light from the skylight, and birds' twittering.... (Yes, there were real birds!)
It was like a patio.

フレッシュオレンジとざくろのジュースでまずはリフレッシュ。

We started from fresh juice of orange and pomegranate.

今回はそこまでおなかへってなかったので、前菜とメインを二人でシェア。
前菜は、ズッキーニボール。あげたさくさくの糸状の衣の中に入ってます。
メインはやっぱりケバブ!
ミートボールとラム肉をヨーグルトソースとトマトソースで。
おいしかった！

We were not very hungry, so we shared a starter and a main.
We had a courgette ball for starter.  It was inside of angel hair pastry.
The main was, of course, kebab!
Lamb meat and meatballs with yogurt sauce and tomato sauce.
They were delicious!

レストランメニューですが、カフェのような気負わない雰囲気。
猫もふらりとやってきます。

It's a restaurant menu, but it was in the casual mood like a cafe.
As a cat come casually....

Istanbul ~the bridge between East and West ~ ヒガシとニシをつなぐ街、イスタンブール   Oct 2014 Vol.11

トプハーネのおしゃれなトルコ料理カフェ・レストランをご紹介。
Eidの祝日初日にも開いていた優秀カフェ!

We found a nice cafe restaurant in Tophane.

Bristol ~ ブリストル

今日はイースターに行ってきたブリストルの町のことを。
とにかく、「ジャイアント」フリーマーケットに気をとられていて、何も下調べをしてこなかった私たち。
とにかく町をぶらついてみよう、ということでとにかくひたすら町をてくてく歩く。

We went to Bristol on Easter Sunday!
I was focus on a "giant" flea market, so I didn't research anything about the town.
We decided to just wander about.

フリーマーケットの会場が川の向こう側だったので、最初は川の辺りをぶらり。
ブリストルはその昔有名な貿易港だったそうで、写真右奥には昔の船もちらり。

We started from the South side of the river as we went to the flea market.
So we walked along the river first.
Bristol used to be a famous trading port.
I could see old ships in the back of the photo.

川から見えたので気になった、クリフトンつり橋へ。

We saw a big bridge from the river.
We went to see it.

なんと19世紀に建てられたものだとか。
ものすごく高いところにたっていて、橋からはブリストルの町が一望。

The Clifton Suspension Bridge was built in the 19th century.

It was on the top of the really high hill.

You could see whole Bristol town from the bridge.

端の西側は切り立った岩壁の谷。
崖上に立っているお城のような建物は、クリフトン天文台。

The building top of the cliff was Clifton Observatory.

クリフトン橋の近くには、クリフトン・ヴィレッジと呼ばれるエリアで、かわいいカフェやお店なんかがこじんまりとまとまってます。
イースター・サンデーにもかかわらず、結構カフェやお店も開いていて、人もたくさん!

Near the bridge, there was an area called Clifton Village.
There are some cute cafes and shops there.
Even though it was Easter Sunday, many shops and cafes were opened and quite busy too!

ブリストルで唯一チェックしていたカフェ。
でもいっぱいだったので、ここじゃなくてセンターのほうのお店に行こうと思ったら、
センターの支店はなんとお休み…。
それだけクリフトンヴィレッジのほうが人気ということかしら。

This cafe was the only place we checked about Bristol.
Unfortunately it was full so that we decided to go to another branch in the town centre.
But the town centre branch was closed....

クリフトンヴィレッジにあったアンティークセンター。
イースターサンデーにも開いてるなんて、優秀!
かわいいものがいっぱいでした！

There are lots of cute vintages!

クリフトンヴィレッジからセンターへ行く道すがら、ブランドン・ヒル公園へ。
公園のシンボル、カボット・タワーは19世紀に建てられたチャペル兼風車小屋。
塔からはブリストルの町が眺められるとのことですが、
もうここまでですでに丘を上ったり下ったり上ったりですでにくたくただったので、パス。

On the way to the town centre from Clifton Village, we went to Brandon Hill Park.
The tower is Cabot Tower built in the 19th century.
It used to be a chapel and windmill.
Apparently you can see the great view from Bristol, however I was so tired already that I didn't go since we had walked all day up and down on the hill.

塔にのぼらなくったって、丘からの眺めはとってもきれい。

Even though you don't climb the tower, you can still see the great view from the hill.

公園を出るともうそこは町のセンター。

The town centre is just near the park.

大聖堂も、いつもなら真っ先に見るところだけれど、とにかく一日中坂道を登ったり下ったりだったのでもうくたくた。
ということで珍しくパスして、一休みできるカフェを探す。

Usually I really love to see old cathedrals and churches, but I was totally exhausted that day.
I had to look for a cafe to have a break.

ところが、センターではマーケットなどイベントやチェーン店みたいなお店は開いていたものの、
お目当てのカフェはお休み、あとはもうどこにでもあるスタバやカフェネロみたいなお店しか開いてなかったのでした!
センターから離れたカフェが開いていたので、てっきり開いているものだと思ったのに…。
次回こそはブリストルならではのカフェを試したい。

Sadly, the cafe I wanted to go was closed that day.
I saw some big chain cafes and restaurant opened, such as Starbacks and Cafe Nero, but no independent cafes opened....
Well, I will try them next time!

今日はイースターに行ってきたブリストルの町のことを。
とにかく、「ジャイアント」フリーマーケットに気をとられていて、何も下調べをしてこなかった私たち。
とにかく町をぶらついてみよう、ということでとにかくひたすら町をてくてく歩く。

We went to Bristol on Easter Sunday!
I was focus on a "giant" flea market, so I didn't research anything about the town.
We decided to just wander about.

フリーマーケットの会場が川の向こう側だったので、最初は川の辺りをぶらり。
ブリストルはその昔有名な貿易港だったそうで、写真右奥には昔の船もちらり。

川から見えたので気になった、クリフトンつり橋へ。

Temples & Shrines in Arashiyama @ Kyoto ~ 嵐山・寺社巡り

今日はまたまた嵐山に戻って、嵐山の有名寺社めぐり。
嵐山といえば世界遺産の天龍寺なんですが…、なぜだか無視してた!　(私も行ったことないのに!）
このときはそんなに時間もなくて、あだしのに行きたいという私の意向を尊重したために…
(フランス人観光者を尊重しろという感じですが…。あだしののほうがおもしろい気がして。）
というわけで、あだしの方面へ歩いていく、寺社巡り。

Back to Arashiyama, Kyoto city guide!
The most famous temple is Tenryu-ji temple...
It's one of the world heritages, but somehow, I missed it.
But there are still more interesting temples and shrines in Arashiyama.

Nonomiya Jinja (Shrine） 野宮神社

A cosy shrine in a famous bamboo woods.
The contrast of bamboo and moth's green and gates' vermilion is beautiful.
Originally it used to be a holy spot for the purification of princesses who had to go to Ise Shrine (the top of the Shinto shrine)
(The shrine holds the festival parade which I wrote in this post.)
Nowadays it is dedicated the gods of baby, studying, and of course, love.
People come here and pray when they want to have babies, when they want to pass exams, and when they want to have love partners.
I often see girls praying there!
By the way, I bought a amulet of the god of baby here for my friend who wanted to have a baby.  She got one next year I bought it!

竹林の中にあるこじんまりとした神社。
竹林とコケのグリーンと鳥居の朱色のコントラストがきれいです。
その昔、伊勢神宮へ行く斎宮が身を清めたところとする聖地です。
(前の嵐山の記事に載せた斎宮行列を行っている神社。）
今は子宝、学問、そしてなんといっても良縁の神様をまつっていて、女の子たちのお参りする姿が多いです。
ちなみに私はここの子宝のお守りをお土産に買っていって、見事、子供を切望していた友人は妊娠しました!

Jojakko-ji (temple)　常寂光寺

The temple is on the slope of a mountain.
It's a famous spot of autumn leaves, and that beautiful view with autumn leaves made the name of the temple.
(Jojakkodo means the land of eternally tranquil light where Buddha is.)
Even you come here in other seasons, it's still beautiful, quiet peaceful place,

化野に行く道すがらに立ち寄ったお寺。（というか化野と間違えて入った!）
小倉山の斜面に立っているお寺で、そこからは嵯峨野が一望できます。
(あだしのと間違えたことに気づき、私は展望できるところまで登らず…）
紅葉の名所で、その風景が常寂光土のようなことからお寺の名前がついたとか。
この季節に来ても、石段の多い境内は緑に囲まれて落ち着く。

Adashino Nenbutsu-ji (temple)　化野念仏寺

The temple was built in the 9th century.
Back then, the area was a place for aerial sepulture - the exposure of dead bodies to the wind and rain.
A high priest came and gathered the bodies, and built this temple dedicated to the spirits of the dead.
In 1903, people gathered thousands of statues of Buddha, which were neglected tombs scattered around the area, to memorialize the souls of the dead.
The view with thousands statues is absolutely solemn to reconfirm the preciousness of life.
(It's forbidden to take photos inside of the area of statues.  Those photos are from the outside of the area since I heard that it was ok from the outside.)

赤い霊柩車を見てずっと行きたいと思っていたところ。
無数の石塔がとても幻想的。
もともと風葬の地で野ざらしになっていた遺骸を集めて供養したのが始まり。
石塔は、明治時代に集められた無縁仏。
おびただしい数の石塔は、改めて命の尊さを訴えかけるような厳かな迫力があります。
（ちなみにこの石塔が集められた「西院の河原」内は写真撮影禁止。外側からなら大丈夫です、と聞いたので、外側からのみ撮影しました。）

今日はまたまた嵐山に戻って、嵐山の有名寺社めぐり。
嵐山といえば世界遺産の天龍寺なんですが…、なぜだか無視してた!　(私も行ったことないのに!）
このときはそんなに時間もなくて、あだしのに行きたいという私の意向を尊重したために…
(フランス人観光者を尊重しろという感じですが…。あだしののほうがおもしろい気がして。）
というわけで、あだしの方面へ歩いていく、寺社巡り。

Back to Arashiyama, Kyoto city guide!
The most famous temple is Tenryu-ji temple...

But there are still more interesting temples and shrines in Arashiyama.

Nonomiya Jinja (Shrine） 野宮神社
